2021-2022 Season

Sunday in jeopardy.

I just read an article that the NCAA requires a team to play a minimum of 25 regular season games in order to qualify for the tournament (up from 18 from last year). Some of these teams may encounter difficulty reaching that threshold.

With regards to Baylor, they only had 7 players available for the Kansas State game.

I have a question about the Big 12 tournament. I know tickets are on sale thru the Big 12 Conference now but will Texas be selling tickets possibly available to season ticket holders? I don’t want to wait and then not be able to get a ticket but would prefer to sit with Texas fans (and avoid obnoxious Baylor fans lol)

Well the NCAA will just change the rule if need be. Making a rule like that prior to the start of the season without realizing how much COVID is rampaging through the college ranks is just dumb. But, I realize they did this as a prod to make conferences reschedule postponed games.

Good points.

Two notes of interest to Texas fans in the Dave Campbell article...

Stock Up: Texas
Seven wins in a row for the Longhorns, who moved up to ninth in this week's poll. Per Across The Timeline, it's the first time back in the top 10 for the team since the Nov. 26, 2018 poll.

The team opened Big 12 play against Oklahoma State, winning 62-51 behind a pair of 14-point performances from Joanne Allen-Taylor and Aubrey Warren.

Something I liked to see about that game: how many minutes Kyndall Hunter got. She started! And while her shot was off as she went 1-for-7 from the floor, it's good to see Hunter getting minutes. I'm a big fan of her game.

Stock Up: UTSA
The Roadrunners were never going to be "good," but something I wanted to see in Karen Aston's first season was strides.

Well, she's already doubled the team's win total from last year. And won a conference game already, beating UAB 68-60.

Jadyn Pimental had 21 point in the win, going 8-for-25 from the floor. The Lamar transfer has seen some big disparities in her playing time this season, but she's scored 20-plus points in three of her last five games.

I was worried Aston was going to struggle to get good players to San Antonio after how the team has looked in recent years. But she's brought in some good transfer and has given this program something it was lacking: direction.

I don’t know if she’s just a volume shooter but 8-for-25 tells me Pimental is not choosy when it comes to shot selection.

While I understand it's not the most important issue at the moment, but these re-scheduled games might not end up being aired on TV like originally planned due to what's already slated to be aired.

I know Kyndall was highly recruited out of high school, but I have not been impressed with what I've seen so far. Yeah, she had the one game where she went crazy with three's, but otherwise she just seems to me to be an entitled high school star who hasn't realized that she has to up her game in college. Contrast that to Rori who, while making freshman mistakes, is working hard to learn how to be competitive at the college level. Kyndall has the potential but I don't yet see the commitment.

Calm the F down. She's a freshman coming off of injury. It may take her some time to adjust. Man, we are now living in an instant gratification world. Nobody has patience anymore from the players to the fans. Using words like "entitled" or that she lacks commitment is nonsense.

vic is truly fearless!! I don’t think it will be able to happen but if it does it’s going to be very interesting to say the least.

I don't understand how Davis is concluding it's Indiana.

I recognize Texas played them once before but I see Stanford's game against Oregon State on Sunday is postponed because Oregon State.

Entitled??? How you came up with that is beyond me. I don’t think you would find anyone who would agree with you. She’s a young kid trying to find her way, and by all accounts a very good kid. We all saw what she is capable of offensively. We NEED her...

After listening to Vic's postgame, it sounds like a non-conference game on Sunday is more aspirational and hopeful than reality. He mentions a barrier to the non-conference game is the Big 12 has requested/ordered he wait until Friday in case another Big 12 game is cancelled. With only 48 hours until a possible Sunday game, Vic shares he thinks it'll be really difficult to pull off.
