2021-2022 Season

DFW..I was thinking last KA recruiting class…..and wrote KA era. You are correct with Warren and JAT being seniors. I think that last recruiting class was five …Coleman, Johnson, Chevalier, Holle and ? …..with only Holle remaining. Thanks for keeping me straight.

In listening to the WBB Media Availability tonight, I didn’t hear an injury update so it’s going to be return for Arizona on Dec 19 or Princeton on Dec 22. If any are not ready, it’ll be Dec 29. They break for Christmas on Dec 22 and not back to Dec 27. Hard to get much rehab while with family for 5 days eating pie. Hope all 3 make it back next week. Schaefer mentioned Femme hadn’t seen her mother in like 3 or perhaps 5 years. I hope she has some family to hang out with during break. I was glad to hear him sign off with Praise The Lord and Hook Em again.

Those were Karen’s last recruits - Vic gets credit for DeYona.

I’m listening to it now and Vic did say Hunter and Kobe are close to retuning but Moore still has a ways to go. He also stated Kobe and Hunter have been in practice these past couple of days and are slowly getting worked back into the swing of things. I personally don’t expect Moore to be back until the end of December or January but she has been doing very little work in practice so it’s slowly but surely getting there with all three but will take Moore longer to get back than it will Kobe send Kyndall.

Getting any of these players back will be a big boost. I'm looking forward to today's game to see how we do without Ashley - substitutions, etc.

Grrrr, could one of you use your influence to get UT to mic up the reporters! So frustrating!!:brickwall:

What's even more annoying is that in the recent volleyball post-game press conference, there at the table along with Elliot and the two players was John Bianco, the SID. He has a microphone and all he does is pick who gets to ask questions next. I wrote him asking for a mic for the reporters, no response. He could have simply handed HIS mic to those reporters. Sigh.

I’ll be damned if Vic doesn’t give me the sniffles at every press conference and interview that he participates in. I love that he’s the head coach at Texas.

Turning defense into offense. In the past 2 games, Texas has scored 64 points off turnovers, aggy & Idaho combined for 2.

That’s incredible. A lot of factors involved. First our guard play is good in not giving up turnovers…..more specifically turnovers in areas that are quickly exploited into points. No one is pressing our guards full court for steals/baskets. Most turnovers we are giving up are like post entry passes and similar that are a long way from the other team’s basket. Also it means we are getting back on defense and not giving up layups. Not to mention we ARE scoring on other team’s turnovers.

Against Lauren Ware, it'll be interesting to see if Vic has to shift to a more mobile post player like he did against Idaho. Also, some familiar faces on that Arizona team: Cate Reese (still) and former sooner Shaina Pellington.

As I remember Pellington, she is super quick. Will be interesting if our pressure effects her. It is rare that Schaefer deviates from full court inbounds pressure just because the other team has such a guard. I haven’t watched Arizona so have no opinion as to how it plays out. Anybody have an opinion?

In a 12/13 column by Voelpel on ESPNW, she listed Texas as number 9. Her article is about the top 10 teams that have a chance at the title. Being number 9 is good with Arizona at 6. Nothing really specific about Horns but quite a bit on Tennessee as a “contender”…….making that loss grate on me. She also talks about the teams not quite ready to compete for title like Duke and North Carolina.

Last chance for lunch with Vic. Free (chicken) buffet lunch. You don't have to be a Foundation member or anything like that. Click on this tweet and you'll be directed to a form to fill out so they know how many are attending.

Voelpel has Texas at #6 …..a move from #9 last week. Arizona is #7. Obviously she give Texas more credit for the Stsnford and Aggy win and almost Tennessee win than others do…..Texas at #12 in polls. I choose to believe Voelpel. And I would move Ohio State off the power ranking discussion since they wouldn’t play us even though their game was also canceled. I would replace them with San Diego.

Well I’m not sold on Indiana in the Top Ten over Texas but at #12 we’re splitting hairs I guess. I think people think our win over Stanford in Maples was a fluke because they must not have watched the game. The winning margin at aTm should carry a little weight too even though they did lose to TCU in Fort Worth

OK - found it here towards the bottom of the article:

"The Big 12 recently adjusted its policy as well. In an email to The Associated Press, league spokesman Bob Burda said it allows for a game to be considered a no-contest if a team has fewer than six scholarship players and one coach. The league will attempt to reschedule games."

ACC no longer forfeiting games. This decision applies retroactively to previously declared forfeits.

ACC revises scheduling policy to avoid forfeits

I just saw that too. Baylor #3 seed and Texas a #2 with #1 Stanford. Conference play hasn’t even started but if I had to bet money on any of that, it would be the Texas in the same Region as Stanford part

We have to play Baylor twice. Not sure it's good to be ranked ahead of them now. I'm also not sure we're a 2 seed. We're thin at point and our starter has shown she's prone to foul. We also could use some improvement in the lane. We may not hit our stride until February. I was much more comfortable with us hanging around in the lower half of the top 25.

Meh. Creme always has Texas at various points as the #1 or #2 seed and look at where we end up. These early, early, early "seedings" are such a joke. But, it's product that's put out there in order to keep interest in the sport and ESPN.

Being completely honest, it is a product that's put out there to generate clicks and ad revenue. Creme is just the revenue ***** willing to make a list for WBB.

New AP poll has Texas holding steady at #12 just below #11 UCONN & #10 Baylor with Iowa St the only other B12 school at #14

Yay Rori! Some folks predicted before the season started that she would be our starting point guard. Alas, I was not one of the prescient. She is an exciting player and a great kid (based on her press conferences). Vic knew what he wanted. On another note, I look at the list of B12 weekly awards and I see 2 frosh from KState listed multiple times. There is also that big (can't remember her name) who has received accolades. They might be a formidable opponent.

Baylor plays at K-State to open up Big XII play on Sunday. We should find out some things real quick.
