2021-2022 Season

Got a text from WBB that the "Lunch with Vic" session for today has been cancelled out of COVID precautions. And no, that does not imply tomorrow's game is affected.

Most likely (hopefully) a precautionary measure, and a smart one at that.

8 canceled and 2 postponed games for today alone in Div I WBB

Sidenote: UCLA football team canceled their appearance in the Holiday Bowl today just FOUR hours before kickoff to join a long list of canceled Bowl games

Seven of the fifteen games involving Top 25 teams scheduled for today 12/30/2021 have been postponed.

This is going to get worse, and I'm not sure we know what to do. With Delta if you were vaxed (and boosted) you were pretty much good. Omicron has changed the dynamic.

A weak, barely more than the sniffles *****, but OK.
True much of the time, but clearly hospitalizations spiking means it continues to be a crap shoot on when and who gets a more serious case. Hope our players stay safe. I much prefer this game getting cancelled than the ones coming up! :hookem:

3 of the 4 games involving Top25 teams scheduled today have been postponed. #25 Ohio St vs #9 Michigan is currently airing on BTN.

Sidenote: at least 30% of NBA referees are currently unable to work and D League officials or subbing

Agree, but we need to recognize that Omicron is not the only variant out there. Delta is still around too, and remains much more likely to create major problems than Omicron.

On the news today they said that the vast majority of new cases are Omicron. Interestingly it appears to be much more transmissible (skyrocketing cases), but causes far less extreme symptoms, less hospitalizations. It appears that it's replacing Delta and is less virulent. Will be interesting to see how we respond. Does it seem that there are more "unexpected" events these days?

Less extreme cases and less hospitalizations/deaths do not mean no extreme cases, hospitalizations/deaths, as you indicated. But we have no idea if Omicron will lead to long covid like alpha and delta. Long covid can mean weeks/months of significant disability, inability to work. There CAN be significant consequences to any type of covid infection, and even though the chances are small, when it happens to you or your loved ones, it is significant. Even though hospitalizations are less, with so many more infections, hospitals can easily get overwhelmed and with healthcare workers getting sick too, it is a disaster waiting to happen.

Oh my, Texas ranked #9 this week...ahead of both Baylor and UCONN.! When's the last time that happened...'03-'04?

Still #6 on ESPNW power rankings by Michelle Voelpel. Both ahead of Baylor, UCONN, and others. Really looking forward to Sunday’s game with Baylor. Hope our protocol players are back along with Moore. Nice to have the home TTech game Wednesday as a precursor to Baylor. Horns need game time since canceled games and holidays.

I’m not reading it that way. I don’t remember what Schaefer said a few days ago but I interpreted it that he felt he might have everybody back real soon. I don’t think the reunion coincides with entire roster bavk

Wondering for how much longer Baylor will be our measuring stick (bugaboo?). They do not appear to be the formidable team they once were and, just coincidentally, there's a team from Baton Rouge that appears to be coming on. Yeah, I know we still have to win, and victories against the Bears and the Huskies would still be reasons for celebration, but it seems that power may be shifting...

Continuation of center discussion from 2023 recruiting thread. Soon we'll play K-state. They have a dominant center, Lee, who we don't have anyone to match up with. Also, in their last game she scored almost 1/2 of their points. Do we assign two people to her, front and back, and see if the rest of their team can beat us?

I'm not familiar with all conference rosters, but Lauren Ebo might match up better against Lee than anyone else. When the opposition can get Lee into foul trouble (and on the bench), that changes KSU completely.
