2020 Recruiting - Football

Same school as Sterns

The dad said --
“We were very impressed with their vision for Jaylon, Coach Washington is an amazing Coach, there’s something about him that is so real as a person. I think the entire visit was more intimate than other visits, Jaylon was able to spend some quality time with Caden and other teammates.”

2020 4-star OT Chad Lindberg (League City Clear Creek)....

The cautionary news on Lindberg is that the whole family will be visiting Stanford next month. And, his mom has been developing a friendship with Sara Little, the mother of Walker Little. I wish Little would hurry up and graduate or leave for the NFL.

But ...... Majors was also offered by Stanford but seems headed our direction as of now.

A little more on this -- ZEvans has reportedly said that the most important factor in his recruitment was offensive linemen. And the two OLs he think are the most important are Lindberg and George.
Landing Lindberg early is thus seen as a key getting both Evans and George. These 3 players are supposed to be close and regularly talk about playing together.
Herman supposedly made it clear to Lindberg that he can be "the Caden Sterns" of this class and help bring others to Austin.

247 says --

" ... Getting Lindberg, George, Parr, Garth and Majors on campus along with Evans was absolutely genius by Texas. This is exactly the type of weekend they needed with all of these guys. Texas doesn’t usually push for guys this early, but the Longhorns have a great understanding of the dynamics of this 2020 recruiting class. Herman and company have put themselves in a strong position to get every guy just mentioned. They just have to close...."

Read somewhere that Lindberg wants to be an EE. If that's true, Stanford is out--no early entry.

My handle and I feel obliged to remind you that the great Justin Blalock was from North Texas - P-Town to be exact (that's Plano for those who don't speak jive).

I hate the Patriots but I liked watching a great Plano Wildcats alumn Rex Burkhead with the ball this season. Saw him play in HS - kid was a stud - wished the Horns had picked him up they passed and the Huskers picked him up.

2020 OL Logan Parr on his recent visit --

“It went very well. I was happy to get to see people in person who I’ve only messaged before like Princely (Umanmielen). I got to see and spend time with guys like Jake Majors, Chad Lindberg, Jaylen Garth and Hudson Card.”

“It was very surprising to see him (Matthew McConaughey) there and hear his speech. My mom freaked out, as I’m sure a lot of the other moms did. She got her phone out right away. Now, I can brag to everyone about how I shook his hand.”

I guess the kids relate pretty well to McConaughey? If so it's genius to have him around pimping the program and getting mom all googley-eyed star struck

ASU commit from the same HS in Georgia as Derrian Brown

Some comments from this Georgia player we offered --

"I've been hearing from Texas for about two weeks. Yeah, I'm hoping corner. I do know I want to play defense in college."

"Yeah, of course I want to visit. I know I'll obviously be taking an official to ASU but I would like to take an official to Texas also. So yes, I want to visit. And Derrian (Brown) is my boy. He's the best running back in 2019, I don't care what anybody says. He's family, he's the homie."

Joe,
Any specific news on where we sit with Prince Dorbah?

TFB has a new post called "Big News Likely on the way."

"Just a heads up, there is likely to be some pretty major news coming out later today that could impact Texas…in a good way. I’m sorry to be the, “I know something but can’t tell you” guy. But when this news drops and again, it’s likely to happen today, you’ll know it was what this was in reference to."
