2020 Recruiting - Football

CB - Crystal Ball, He's an OL.

Yeah, I know, was referring to McCoy; he's "ATH" but doesn't he play DB?

I think about 25% of the Texas 2019 recruits are DBs, about the same for the 2018 class. I guess with about 4/22 positions being DBs/safeties that's a little strong, but not heavy on recruits. I think some analysts lump DBs and safeties as the same positions.

Not complaining, just a bit of humor. Texas IS afterall "DBU". The more the merrier.

So here is an update from 247USC mod Ryan Abraham
This reads like quite a spin job to me. Losing McCoy is now a good thing for SC?
It seems like maybe they know bad news is coming and they are preparing their fanbase in advance for that disappointment

"Couple things I wanted to add. Talking to a source McCoy was very tight with Tee Martin and he was fired. Then McCoy was very excited about Kliff Kingsbury and he left. McCoy started classes on January 7 and Kingsbury left on January 9.

Talked to a source who felt losing McCoy could actually be a good thing for Ford and Nacua to sign with USC...."

He would be a LB on defense.

He would be a LB on defense.

Didn't realize he was built for that. Haven't followed too closely; seemed like he was a fleet speedster type.

Makes me think of Keith Jackson's pre-game at that Rose Bowl NC game, something like: "Watching the Longhorn defensive backs go through warm-up drills --- looks like a track meet out there."

Hopefully this guy knows what he is talking about

Text of the linked article:

Jan 24 McCoy set to transfer from USC

According to sources close to Bru McCoy, the five-star athlete will transfer from USC to Texas.

McCoy is expected to be in Austin by next week. He and the Texas coaching staff anticipate he’ll have to sit out a year but they will apply for a waiver hoping to avoid that situation.

McCoy was all set to commit to Texas before the 2019 All-American Bowl but was convinced to commit to USC by former Trojan offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury at the last minute. After Kingsbury was hired away to be the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals, McCoy apparently soured on the idea of wearing cardinal and goal.

The product of Mater Dei HS has received his family’s blessing for the transfer, which is a big deal given that his father is close with USC athletic director Lynn Swann. He’s set to announce his intentions to transfer soon.

He would be a LB on defense.

He wants to play WR (although they say he would be a good LB too)
And our coaches let them start at whatever position they want to start
So somewhere in the future, we might be able to flood the field with Bru, Jake, JWhitt and perhaps Washington

OK, so, I dug into this more and this person's twitter says he the recruiting director at USC247. BUT,,,,,, that site is not a real 247 site.
And now many other people are out there repeating this guy, who seems kinda shady
Sorry
