2020 Recruiting - Football

2020 4-star OT Chad Lindberg (League City Clear Creek) will be in Austin this weekend. He wants to hang out with 2020 OL Jake Majors (Prosper) and 2020 4-star OL Logan Parr (San Antonio O'Connor). Parr is already committed and is the No. 4 OG and No. 130 overall prospect in the country per 247 composite.

As of this moment in time, this has the feel of a great OL recruiting class coming together

Here is TFB on Washington --
Open Post | Wednesday, May 23rd - The Football Brainiacs - UT Edition
I have been in contact with Bryson for some time based on his expressed interest in OU so when I hit him up about the offer from Texas he quickly got back to me.

Washington is extremely happy about the offer as he said “It’s huge to get an offer from one of my top schools, it’s great!”

Mater Dei is producing some serious Big 12 recruiting battles, particularly between OU and UT, in specific, as they have both offered numerous players from the West Coast high school power. 19 Athlete Bru McCoy, ’20 QB Bryce Young, ’20 DB Darian Green-Warren, ’20 DB Elias Ricks, and now ’20 DB Washington each have serious connections to either UT or OU, and in some cases like McCoy and Young and now Washington, both OU and UT are in their top group of schools.

I asked Washington if he was planning on making a visit to Austin this summer and he said “Yes sir, I plan on visiting both Texas and OU at some point this summer.”

In the past, it has been very difficult for teams not named USC, Oregon and to some extent UCLA to pull kids out of Mater Dei. However, with Texas making a concerted effort to establish a more prominent foothold in California, and OU already having quite an extensive history of recruiting the state, the perceived struggles of the PAC 12 in terms of national recognition could play right into the hands of the Big 12 heavyweights ,and I would not be surprised to see three or four of the kids mentioned above end up in the conference.
Not sure the situation, but I believe this kid is now in Houston and played for CE King this past season.

A lot of big in-state names of 2020s visiting this weekend. They say we like just about everyone on this list alot, so it could be a meaningful weekend. Definitely getting out to a quicker start than last year. Lesson learned I guess

QB Hunter Dunn- Tomball
QB Hudson Card - Lake Travis (UT commit)
RB Ty Jordan– West Mesquite
RB Zachary Evans- North Shore (maybe)
WR Demond Demas– Tomball
OL Logan Parr– San Antonio O’Connor (UT commit)
OL Chad Lindberg– Clear Creek
OL Jake Majors- Prosper
OL Jaylen Garth– Port Neches-Groves (maybe)
DE Vernon Broughton– Spring Woods
DE Prince Dorbah - Highland Park (maybe)
LB Josh White– Cypress Creek
LB Brennon Scott - Bishop Dunne
S Bryson Washington– Houston C.E. King
DB Jaylon Jones - Cibolo Steele

Good news = QB Hunter Dunn's (Tomball) dad went to UT, and he is a good friend of 2020 WR Demond Demas. Demas even transferred to Tomball High to play with Dunn. And there is a possibility he might even be living with the Dunn Family. As you can see, they will be in Austin together this weekend
Bad news = Both Dunn and Demas train with the Footwork King.

OL Jaylen Garth– Port Neches-Groves (maybe).....

Justin Wells is confident Garth (6'4,285) will be a Longhorn.
247 has him rated higher than Rivals. He is a 4-star by 247 (#37 OT nationally and #43 in state), and very close to a 4-star in their composite
Jaylen Garth, Port Neches-Groves, Offensive Tackle

Good guy to get. My take on Garth's film is that he shows good footwork, is quick out of the stance, quick to set up in pass protection, and is a very good pass blocker. His run blocking looked solid too, but he's not the type to bulldoze everyone in his path and turn them into pancakes. Garth and Majors would compliment each other quite well (let's hope they both sign with us).

A hat tip to PNG's offensive line coach--not only is Garth's technique good, the whole PNG OL generally stays with their blocks and gets downfield to block some more once the play has past them. You don't see a bunch of OL standing around after the first 2-3 seconds of the play (as is common in HS).

LB Brennon Scott - Bishop Dunne...

Scott got an offer. Probably more to come

He is Bishop Dunne in Dallas which has been an aggy school in the past. Would be good to land a talented player from there

There were a lot of players in this weekend, not all were known publicly ahead of time, including ...

From TFB -- UPDATE (7:30 PM): Confirmed that Aledo (TX) 5-star Oklahoma running back commit Jase McClellan and his mother are visiting Texas today. They’re spending her birthday watching Texas-OU basketball game in Austin, ironic. McClellan has been committed to OU for over a year and a half. But he is cousins with former Texas running back Jonathan Gray and has interest in UT.
