He has been crystal clear since Day 1 that he plans to play in college with his team/soul mate Damien George. Under no imaginable circumstance was Damien coming to the University of Texas. Ever.
LSU, OU, Alabama, hell Miami, but no chance UT. Listen to what they say.
 
Becoming eligible affects coming here and remaining so has a huge effect on staying. Some guys just get tired of the grind. The University of Texas is, first and foremost, a University
 
What was Damien George's major hang up about UT?

Academics / getting in? Grew up hating us? Something else?

There may be (and IMO are) suitable or better 2020 RB replacements as far as play on the field goes. I always thought the biggest value in landing Evans was the intangible of him serving as a bell cow to bring the other top in-state 2020 recruits to us. Originally I was thinking we were going to land another stellar class on the backs of Evans (for the other top in-states) and Ringo (for other top out-of-states). Now it looks like we wont land either. Given that this class will be smaller to begin with, a third consecutive top 3 class seems the impossible dream.

You're right Joe. I ain't sweatin though. If we finish in the the top ten come back like gangbusters the following season we'll be just fine cause you can only put eleven on the field at a time. :bevo:
 
FWIW -- Eric Nahlin of Inside Texas said something to the effect that the the North Shore players have a strong aversion to the idea of playing with the Duncanville kids in college. Sounds like there is epic level bad blood there.

Like it. (Relatively) big man with field vision and great cuts--both in traffic and in the open field, rapid acceleration + top end speed, and sheds tackles. Complete package. My famous RB comparison -- Bo Jackson.

I hear ya.

Guess Tom & Co. will have to piece the class together bit-by-bit and cobble together a (hopefully) top 10 class. Still not too shabby for a smallish class if we can pull it off. Tom certainly works it hard.
