2019 RPI and Bracketology

If the Vols get past #3 Maryland in rd 2 (if they even make it out of rd one first) a potential Sweet 16 matchup with UCONN awaits. Is there anyone that truly loves women's basketball that wouldn't love to see a Tennessee team that has struggled this year upset a Geno led UCONN team (the answer is NO!). The ghost of Pat Summitt might have to make an appearance. I think our round two matchup, if we take care of business in round one, is likely the most difficult one we could have ended up with. More than a few are picking Oregon to win it all this year. But hey, it's March Madness, anything is possible!

OMG! I'm all in for the ghost of Pat to appear to beat Geno. That was the 1st thing I noticed on the bracket. But I thought UCONN will slaughter TN.

Tennessee has the potential to be slaughtered by anyone w/ how Jekyll & Hyde they play. They lost by 20 to Alabama...

You're right @Nuyoika... and then they beat us the last two years.:smh:
When they decide they want to play they have enough talent to compete with nearly anyone in the Top 25. Their issue is sometimes they seem like they either don't care or don't know what to do when it comes to competing on a basketball court. It's sort of odd really.

Yep... kind of like our Longhorns.

I wonder if it has to do with unplanned financial reasons. IIRC, teams have to travel to the higher seed's location, every game. Depending on your seed and how many games you win, mileage and money may rack up to an amount that many schools don't have or just will not budget for.

Then again, it seems like more and more teams are turning down the invitation every year.
Georgia coach made a comment about how only the NCAA is their goal. I'm way too old to understand 20-somethings, but wouldn't they prefer to play and possibly win more games, even in the NIT? Many of the low seeds get wiped off the court in the first round of the NCAAs, which is preferable to the uncertainity of the NIT? It seems elitist to me to turn down the NIT, except for financial, injury reasons. IMHO.
