2019 Recruiting - WBB

For those who have wondered about Liz Scott, she retweeted something about A&M again recently. They are the only school I have ever seen her retweet about:
She's a 6-0 wing. BU has Didi Richards (has to work on her outside shot) and Aquira DeCosta is a frosh this season at the wing. Not really a lot of true wings on the roster for Baylor. She will have a shot to get some solid minutes her first year.

Baylor? I posted that she seems to really like A&M.

Despite her size, I think she is more of an undersized power forward. Don't think she has the ball handling or perimeter game to play on the wing; could be wrong.

Nice! Cooke shows an excellent ability to finish at the basket through contact and to find the open player, whether cutting to the basket or standing still, for an open shot when she penetrates.

I'm not familiar with this publication but this article breaks down a few of the 2019 Texas players we are recruiting. Most notably,Endyia Rogers, Liz Scott and Jaden Owens.

Those are some interesting player rankings. Most heights seem inflated an inch or two, except for Jaden Owens who no way is shorter than Endyia.

Surprised Taylor Jones isn't on that list.

P.S. I want a verbal commitment soon!

It's a little anxiety provoking to read about recruiting on the UConn board --- most of their posters appear to assume they will get the cream of the crop, Bueckers, Fudd, Boston, maybe Van Lith, maybe Clark. Their only apparent worry is that some of those players could choose Notre Dame instead. Oh well....Karen has shown her abilities as a recruiter. She may not get those players (they are all geographically pretty far from here), but I'm sure she'll come up with some good recruits.

All of the players you are talking about are 2020 kids except for Fudd who is a 2021. I'm sure KA is doing her due diligence to stay in contact with these players but I imagine she is focusing on the recruiting process for the 2019 group where we will have 6 (5 more with Celeste taking one) available scholarships. And very slim pickins in Texas in that class. So much of her recruiting is certainly out of state.
My best guess that the focus is on the following players

Haley Jones
W 6-1 Archbishop Mitty H.S. (CA) Long Shot to get
Laeticia Amihere F 6-3 King's Way Christian (CAN) UConn thinks they have her but TT (when she was here) was working hard on her. I now say a Long Shot to get
Jordan Horston G 6-1 Columbus Africentric H.S. (OH) Long Shot to get
Rickea Jackson W 6-2 Detroit Edison Public Academy KA is working very hard on her. I say we have a very good shot to get her. ****
Zia Cooke PG 5-9 Rogers H.S. (OH) Good Possibility **
Jaden Owens PG 5-6 Plano West H.S. (TX) Very good possibility ****
Ashten Prechtel P 6-5 Discovery Canyon (CO) A lot of effort being put in to get her. Very Good possibility. ****
Elizabeth Scott W 6-0 Klein Oak H.S. (TX) Good Possibility ***
Endyia Rogers PG 5-6 Bishop Lynch H.S. (TX) Big push to get her Good Possibility ****
I really don't see any other players on the board that we may be pursuing and again just my opinion and open for debate. Going to be an interesting run up to sighing day in November in any case.

By my count, we only have 5 scholarships for 2019, with one of those already taken by Celeste.

We have 14 on the roster for 2018-19. And, 4 seniors in Danni, Jatarie, Lashann, and Olamide.

I'd be surprised if we use more than 4 for the class of 2019 as we only have 3 juniors on the roster, and that would limit us to 3 scholarships for a very talented in-state 2020 class.

If I had to bet, I say we will award 3 'ships for 2019 and 5 'ships for 2020.

Ellis21d --- Glad to get your assessment. Your thoughts on our 2019 targets are about what I was thinking, too, though you and Moooooo know more about this stuff than me. I read a quote from Horston that was practically a love letter to Geno about how wonderful he and UConn are, so I expect her to go there if she is offered. I'm glad your are optimistic about Rickea Jackson and Zia Cooke. For that matter, any of the players on your list would be great gets, from the limited amount I know.

Moooooo again you are are correct. I was thinking (without doing my due diligence) that with Jordon Hosey's departure that gave us 6 for next year but 5 it is with Celeste Taylor confirming one leaving us 4 scholarships available.

I do agree with you Moooooo that we are better off saving any positions we can open for the 2020 class which is stacked with talent!!
If I had my wish list for the remaining 2019 class it would be:
Rickea Jackson top priority
Ashten Prechtel
or Endyia Rogers simply because KA covets her so much
or in the place of Endyia any of the other 3 Zia Cooke, Jaden Owens or Elizabeth Scott even thought from what I have read that Scott is a Baylor lean.

That's encouraging news on Liz Scott. The timing is odd. Just would have assumed we had offered a while back, or at least immediately after our June 9 Advanced Camp which Liz attended.

Glad to see that Liz and her Dad re-tweeted that tweet from her club team. I hope that an official visit is next on the horizon.
