2019 Recruiting - WBB

Now that Tiffany has been hired, I am re-posting this tweet of the DFW Elite roster. Other than Endyia, do we know who else we are recruiting?

Possibly Harmoni Turner since Karen has retweeted a few of her Tweets. Karen also follows Myra Gordon.

Coach George follows Kyndall Hunter a 2021 recruit.

Although it's not DFW Elite, I would hope TJ would have a little influence with Hannah Gusters of Duncanville HS.

All those names sound familiar. But, only Endyia is 2019, correct?

Harmoni and Mrya are class of 2020, right? Edit: I see Babhorn's post confirming the same.

Will be very interesting to see how we do with DFW area recruits who we prioritize in the next several recruiting classes:

2019: Endyia Rogers, Taylor Jones, Jaden Owens

2020: Harmoni Turner, Myra Gordon, Sarah Andrews, Hannah Gusters, Jordyn Merritt

Could someone recap who has been offered? "Offered" = the player announced having received a firm offer on social media.

From what I understand, that would include:
Ashten Prechtel-CO 6'5
Rickea Jackson-MI 6'2
Celeste Taylor-NY 5'10 - verbal
Jaden Owens 5'9
Zia Cooke-OH 5'8
Endyia Rogers 5'6

I am under the impression we were interested in these long-shots:
Jordan Horston-OH 5'10
Haley Jones-CA 6'1

Since I don't follow social media, I doubt this is an entirely accurate list.

If Texas can't land Haley Jones, I personally hope she stays in her home State of California and attends Stanford or UCLA. A scholarship to Stanford would be hard to turn down.

I think you listed them all. I would assume 6'3 Taylor Jones has been offered, but not positive. She has started taking official visits (FSU a couple of weeks ago), so we may know where we stand with her within the next month or two as she concludes her visits.

Looks like we are in the mix for both Haley Jones and Rickea Jackson, both highly regarded wings in the 2019 class. Either would be an awesome signing for the Horns.

Taylor Jones is off the board. I’m disappointed but not surprised. She was at the UConn game and her body language did not tell me she was loving the Horns. But Oregon State? Her dad is an Aggie Alum. Must be a lot of bad mojo in Aggieville.

Congrats to Taylor. I have to admit that of her final list of 10 schools, I felt OSU was the least likely to land her. As far as I know, she only took official visits to FSU and OSU. I thought she might be destined for Duke or Stanford. Of course, it's tough to know for sure which schools made her a committable offer.

Congrats to her. The one area that I’m not concerned about is the post position at this point.

With Charli and Sedona in the 2018 class, I’d be shocked if Texas is able to pull more than one 2019 big and even that will be an uphill climb.

A few photos of Jaden Owens' and Jordan Horston's visit to UCLA this weekend. Is the red head Ashten Prechtel from Colorado?

I would be very interested to know which Point Guard for 2019 does Coach Aston and her staff have at the top of their list. Whether it’s Jaden Owens or Endyia Rogers.

A photo from this weekend's Check Me Out camp in Pflugerville. I recognize 2019 Endyia Rogers (4th from the left on the back row) and 2020 Harmoni Turner (1st on the front row). I'm not sure of the others but they could be 2020 Hannah Gusters (2nd on the back row) and 2020 Myra Gordon (6th from the left on the back row).

Sedona Prince was also at the camp this weekend. She's probably practicing since the USA U18 camp is coming up. Never hurts to have a high profile Horn at these events.

As for Taylor Jones, I don't know what type of skills she possesses and if she is more of a PF or Center in college. Since she chose Oregon State, that makes me think that she is a stretch-four who can shoot the three-pointer as that would fit into their offense; OSU has like 2 or 3 young post players/signees who are very tall (6'7 - 6'9?), and most likely Centers. So, perhaps all that factored into her decision.

Our frontcourt isn't as clearly defined as I once thought as I thought for sure Sedona Prince was our true Center of the future come 2019-20. But, after watching her and Charli in the All-American games, they each have skills that allow them to play both PF and Center. So, that could have an impact on the type of post players we target for the next two recruiting classes.

With 6'5 Ashten Prechtel officially visiting UCLA this weekend, it will be interesting to see if she takes more official visits in the immediate future, including one to us.

And, for 2020, we seem to be targeting post players like Hannah Gusters, DeYona Gaston and Kamaria Gipson. Again, not sure who are true Centers, and who can play at power forward.

Not sure if Horston's words "second official visit to UCLA" mean that this is her second official visit (not sure who the first was), or she means second time she has visited UCLA (with the first having been an unofficial visit).

Those are things we'll probably never know. The other PG we are recruiting is Zia Cooke out of Ohio.

Based on social media, we made an in-home visit with Owens back in March; does not appear we did with Endyia. And, we just recently offered Endyia after she blew up at the NEYBL (or whichever tourney DFW Elite played in). Assuming all offers are equal (committable), I'm assuming the staff would accept whoever wants to commit first and end their recruiting process.

North Carolina was Horston's first visit. I believe it was last weekend.
