2019 Recruiting - Football

Lets pray for a Horns win against Kansas, WV hanging a hundred or so on Ou, LSU crushing their ‘rival’ aggsy and USC sending us a few more cali recruits thanks to the Irish beatdown for which they are about to receive.
Would much rather see the Irish go down in flames personally...

Speculation is Hoofkin or Jacoby Jones, although I guess Warren needs to be added to the list given that date change (Warren could still be gobbled up by LSU until Feb).

If Jones, whose visit went well --- then he is a JUCO, will be an EE and will have 3 years to play 2. But, even though he could RS, IT thinks he would play next season. And, if so, then next season's DE (4i for us) doesnt look so bad. Roach will be back at DE, plus we have Graham, Ossai and Bimage. Ossai already looks like he can find the QB. Also, IT says Warren is still a take even if this "shhh" is Jones.

The rest of the DL next season would be Chisholm (SR), Giles (SR), Wilbon (SR), Coburn (FR*), Ojomo (FR*), Williams (FR*) and Carson (FR*). Coburn also looked good in limited snaps this season. Plus any other new guys.

Our approach to the DL appears to be similar to what we are doing on the OL. Find guys with the right frame and skill set even if they are too light for the NCAA right away. Give our S&C guy a year to work on them as redshirts, and then let them in the mix.

The current chart does not even list Roach and Ossai but my guess is that they are both hand in the dirt DEs next season, getting lots of PT along with Jones if we land him (who is supposed to be playing at 270-275 next year). So, again, I say 4i doesnt look to bad for us as of this moment in time

Here is something alittle odd -- there is some speculation that true freshman Malcolm Epps could flip to CB next season. He is a TE/WR (I always assumed TE). He is listed at 6'5, 230. If so, that would be a jumbo CB. He did play both sides in HS, as well as played basketball and track.

LSU crushing their ‘rival’ aggsy

I can't believe I'd pull for an aggy win, but for the Pirate's sake and Wazzu's chance at the CFP, pulling for aggy against LSU.

Also, I'm just about as negative on LSU as I am on aggy.

But, at least LSU does win national championships in football and baseball.

Good source speculation or just speculation Joe?

I've been watching football since '64 and never once have I seen a guy that size play CB. Internet *********.

Normally we would be in agreement but I think a USC loss and the firing of Helton might improve our chances to land Bru McCoy and some 2020 prospects
Actually I think the opposite. If folks believe that Del Rio, Harbaugh, Peterson or another high profile HC is one the way, I don’t think that would help us...

Any new coach would have to build a relationship with the player. With the new early signing period, the clock is ticking.

A true Longhorn never roots for Aggy success...in anything...

del Rio is the logical choice, but there are those who are holding out for convincing Carroll to come back. From discussions this weekend, Swann is in as much trouble as Helton.

I can think of times when a small forward height could be great and certainly in his limited play I've seen this year, Epps has looked faster and more agile than scouting reports had led me to expect. Still, I don't want to see Epps trying to defend 50 yards against OU's Lamb or Brown … but maybe for red zone defense he could be just the ticket.
