2019 Recruiting - Football

As far as I'm concerned you cannot win a national title relying on just recruiting the state of Texas, not anymore.
That probably went out the window when the $EC, PAC-12 and B1G found Texas on the map. Texas would be the school to do it, but not with 5-7, 6-6, 7-6 or 8-4 seasons. If Herman can duplicate what Brown did over a 10 year period there is a chance (even with the Bank of Collie Station open for business). The Texas HS coaches do not like the OOS which is causing friction, but their jobs are safer than the college coaches' jobs.

If Tom Herman is going to turn this around, it all starts and ends with winning.

You prove you can win and you will get these recruits.

....Next in the pecking order is Dylan Wright, Marcus Washington, Peyton Powell, Langston Anderson and maybe Jaylen Ellis. We have recently picked up our communications with Powell, who is another player supposed to be going to tOSU. He might be the next man up, but I am not 100% certain whether he is WR or DB.....

Dylan Wright (West Mesquite High) to aggy

Wright to aggy is a great get...for them. He's a fiesty baller with tremendous potential and should be a Sunday player. While most thought he was coming here, I don't see it as that surprising. I keep saying this on certain guys, but here's another one cut from a bit different mold than the guys we've been getting. I'm telling you, they are attracting a certain kind of guy...believe I've gone into more detaiI in previous posts. I do think there's a start culture difference in the programs, and it will be very interesting to see which type of guys are rounded into better quality men and football players. I'd love to play aggy in about 3 years.
---- on a side note the Mesquite coaches seemed real impressed with aggy recruiting and attention to their schools

Two recruits that previously had crystal balls to the good guys. I Herman is watching over his assistant's shoulders to observe the tactics they're using to lure in recruits. Loosing a 4 star to aggy who was high on us until about a week ago is ridiculous.

This reminds me of the song by the Ojays...money money money:brickwall:

Just kidding:yikes:

Vol,

Looks like those are all one dollar bills. Aggies only use ones to tip. Put a couple of zeros behind the ones, and then your getting into the Aggies trade territory, as long as the suit cases are large.

Here is an article about "DeGabriel Floyd’s “ 'Austin Family' ”

" .... Along with DeGabriel’s birth family, he is blessed with another family, his “Austin Family.” However, since his commitment to Texas, there have been multiple rumors about his “Austin Family.” Nobody really knew much about them, and the rumors have been boundless.

The first time I met the “Austin Family” they told me stories about how they would sit in restaurants or go to high school games, and they would hear people talk about DeGabriel Floyd’s “Austin Family.” All kinds of crazy rumors — how they influenced his decision and worse. It’s always a weird sensation to hear somebody talk about you or read something that someone, who doesn’t know you, writes about you. It’s even weirder when everything they are saying is wrong.

As the “Austin Family” put it, “It was so much stuff and it was so off that we started laughing and stopped paying attention to it.” But that was before they realized that this was just the beginning.

I met with the “Austin Family” get their story....."

One of our recruiting gurus is claiming we pulled Wright's offer over some previously unknown issues. I dont know. Smells like an aggy thing to say but I cant disprove it it either.

It does smell Joe. He moved on and Texas needs to also.

According to the Statesman's list, of the top 25 prospects in Texas, UT only has three verbals. Four are uncommitted. A&M and OU are poaching away. A&M with a brand new coach. UT and OU with 2nd year coaches.

It is strange that we had so much recruiting success in 2018 (even with a relatively bad season) and it has fallen off this year. I don't think we can expect a top 5 class every year, but I was not expecting aggie and OU to take so much of the top Texas talent.

Not sure what is going on here :idk:

Right now, the buzz is loud around Riley (thank you Baker!) and Jimbo. Herman doesn't have anything to sell that I can tell other than promises of future glory. Of course, Texas and Austin are a great selling point but that doesn't work as much as you might expect; at least from what I can tell. Herman needs to win right away. But so does Jimbo. He is selling the past as his promise to the future. If he flounders a bit then the same old Aggy rep will come back. But I don't know what would prevent him for succeeding. Everyone says, "It's Aggy" but that's too vague. Maybe it's just that the coaching has been sub-par and now they finally have a real one. We'll see.

I think Lincoln is for real but this year will be a big test. He is riding Stoops recruiting coat-tails as far as his starters go (similar to Stoops winning with Blakes' recruits). But I think Lincoln has a real niche as an offensive mastermind and that is a big help. He's not a CEO type coach. He has hands-on skills.
