2019 Recruiting - Football

Herman has a pipeline established now to Oak Ridge (between The Woodlands and Conroe).

Feels great to land OL Johnson. Now I'm feeling greedy. Where do we stand with Bragg, Sheppard, and Green? Any others?

Yeah. If we could end up with Johnson, Bragg, and Green, in front of Cain, that would be a great next class.

Still bummed about Garrett Wilson though.

Lot's of different stats on Tyler. The Dallas Morning News quoted him as a 5-star @ 6'5", 308 per 247 sports. Rivals has him at a 4-star @ 6'4", 280. The above video graphic has him at 313 lbs. Regardless, a great get!

We are in good shape with Bragg
We just made Green's top 5 (see above) but he has tremendous aggy pressure from all around him and they are the favs
Javonna Shepherd is also supposed to be leaning aggy - but we are in the mix

Fun to hear everyone's wish lists...
Next up on mine is Jake Smith.
...Then I want us to steal Leal from Aggy.

Is it just me or does it seem like a large portion of the major prospects we track almost always come down to between 3-5 of the following schools:
UT
Alabama
tamu
LSU
Oklahoma

...Guess that's just the regional nature, but boy its still striking...

Big battles going on there lately

Dude, you are going to have to wait for Aggy decommitment weekend. The organizers of this nearly annual event just had their first meeting. Rome wasn’t built in a day.

OSU the last few years

We need 3 more big uglies on the Oline and Texas will be set for this cycle. Maybe 4 if we get a can't miss guy.

QB - done
RB Noah Cain and or Trey Saunders
WR - 2 of Jake Smith, Bru McCoy, Elijah Higgins, Marcus Washington, and Dylan Wright.
TE - done
OL - 3 or 4 of Kenyon Green, Javonne Shepherd, Stacey Wilkins, Branson Bragg, or a host of others.
DE - 1 more, but too hazy to tell
DT - 1 or 2 but too hazy to tell
ILB - 1 or 2 David Gbenda, Maninoa Tufono or Lakia Henry
OLB - 1 more or done
CB - 1 more, Marcus Banks or Derek Stingley
S - 2 of Lewis Cine, Jalen Catalon, Noa Pola-Gates, or Chris Adimora
Ath - Makiya Tongue, or Jaren Mangham

I think Texas takes a full class of 25 or 26 players.

CB Marques Caldwell (Alvin)

IT says the ones to watch are
2019
CB Marques Caldwell, Alvin
OL Tyler Johnson, Conroe
ATH Jake Smith, Scottsdale
TE Jared Wiley, Temple
2020
QB Hudson Card, Lake Travis

CB Marques Caldwell (Alvin) says he is now "iffy" about his commitment to Oregon
Leaning Texas as of now

Another shoe that may drop soon is WR Jaylen Ellis (Round Rock Cedar Ridge). Has been committed to Baylor for about a year (his former Cedar Ridge coach is at Baylor)
He is 6'0,180 and had 56 catches for 1,248 yards and 14 TDs as a junior. His team went 13-2 in Class 6A Div I losing to eventual state champ Allen in the semifinals

Wiley --

“Home is where the heart is. My gut and my heart told me to go there. Texas is definitely heading up. Here in the next two or three years, they’ll definitely be playing for national championships.”

“The fact that every coach was out there (at Junior Day) to greet me stood out. They do things a little better. They really made me feel at home. I loved every experience that I had down there.”

“We’ve (Wiley and Coach Warehime) gotten really close. We have a phone call about twice a week. At the spring game, I got to meet his family. They are all great people. He’s a great coach, too.”

Guess I'm slow...
There was so much going on last few days I almost entirely missed one aspect of the significance of Hudson Card's commitment: That being the recent dialogue we were having about Baker Mayfield ruining our Lake Travis relationships with his anti-UT trash.
....Guess he doesn't hold all that much sway in central Texas after all.
:hookem: ....punk
