2019 Recruiting - Football

With all the 5* hoopla lately, not sure everyone has seen the PWO’s we’ve been picking up. Jett puts a few kids in the hospital during his senior highlight film.

He didnt have to flip poor number 3 like that lol. Looking at his 247 page he is a smart kid judging by his offer list good luck to the young man.

Didnt Jimbo guarantee the farmers a top 2 class? ...

Does anyone know if NORAD will be tracking Bru’s plane tomorrow, or the DOT, his car?

Someone needs to make sure that frequent updates are sent to the media in Collie Station.

I never thought of him flying in. Hope someone loaned Herman a jet to fly him in because if he's booked on Untied, it may be Wednesday before he arrives.

I'm not sure how this composite ranking is aggregated. Rivals still does not list Bru as a Longhorn commit and ESPN rates him as a 4-star and the Longhorns are rated at #9.

Is the calculator different than the list? See below; still not there.

".... And so at Rivals.com, because of McCoy’s decision, a new recruiting rule has been implemented that will determine which class the five-star – and others in the same situation in the future – will count toward.

“We’re instituting what we’re calling the Bru McCoy Rule, which is anybody who transfers between the early signing period or early enrollment and the second signing period counts toward the class they transfer to,” Rivals.com National Recruiting Director Mike Farrell said.

“This is the first time that we know that this has ever happened. This is a product not only of the early signing period because even if he was an early enrollee this would have happened. It’s important because for regular transfers they have to go to JUCO for us to get a new evaluation on them because they’re so far removed from their high school days. In this case, we just got a new evaluation on him in early January.

“We know what we’re dealing with here as far as a player and because the transfer happened so fast from the time he signed to the time he transferred it would be ridiculous for us to not count him in the Texas class. It was literally a few weeks.”

JF, do you know/think his waiver will be approved?
It seems like it’s a formality that he will be eligible, but I’ve only read he has to be granted a waiver.
Any thoughts, or updates?
I may have missed it

It should be, there is recent precedent. Just last year, LB Ale Kaho was released from his letter of intent and granted immediate eligibility at Alabama by the NCAA. Same for Bryan Addison last year as well (UCLA to Oregon).

Thank you sir!

Not sure I get the math on the Rivals Ranking.

Texas: 1 - 15 - 8 with an average of 3.71 stars
Aggy: 3 - 14 - 9 with an average of 3.77 stars

Can anyone really make the argument that we should be above Aggy on this?

Found some more Jett Bush highlights. Looks like West Brook had first 1st and goal from the 2 or 3 yard line and guess who makes all 4 tackles to get the ball back for his team. Kids a beast.

Strong in the legs. Work on upper body in college, he could be a late bloomer (play as an upper class man).

How did Jett Bush not get flagged on those stops? Have the rules changed?

It's been so long since I saw one of our LBs read the offense & make a tackle at or behind the LOS, I thought it was illegal.

For those that don't know, Westbrook (Forest Park for you oldtimers) made the trip to JerryWorld this year, so that makes those stops that much more impressive.

Of course, we must implore ourselves to remain open that this is just a momentary upsurge because if Javon remains true to form, he will pull a Ryan Perilloux and Aggy will probably pull back ahead. In the end, we have a great class but need to keep on keeping on; especially with the beef.

Class rankings are, to an extent, for February bragging rights. A top five class does not guarantee national championship teams. But a top 10 class with an outstanding coaching staff that can slot in needed talent and develop it just might.

I really like what we are seeing from Herman, Orlando and the others so far. Jimbo is supposed to be the next coming — and of course that’s what the aggies are counting on — but I’m not so sure.

Finally, to restate the obvious, class rankings are simply relative point-in-time “opinions” of the different services. At what stage those players are in their development cannot be determined at this point. Some have peaked, and maxed out their talent. Others, some rated lower, have considerable upside. How effective a staff is at identifying talent that fits their scheme and culture cannot be overstated either.

It’s always fun to see how things play out, and what sleepers become dominant players, like Colt McCoy and D’Onta Forman.

As of now, my feeling is that TH and his staff are good evaluators, and perhaps even better developers of talent.
