2018 Roster

I listened to most of the presser. Can we take the discussion about Chris Nelson to mean that the reports of his leaving the program are highly overstated?

Herman will rotate Buechele and Sam Ehlinger with the No. 1 offense to start spring practice

Herman on Samuel Cosmi: “I think the sky is the limit.”

Herman: "I've never been more excited to coach a team than this one."

Herman on Ayodele Adeoye: “That’s a grown man.
Good news on Nelson..lol..I mean, that he is mentioned at all in camp.
On Brewer...I keep thinking this guys about to breakout and he keeps on missing time. Waiting for the TE curse to end...

OL Patrick Hudson, RB Kirk Johnson, and RB Kyle Porter have a chance to be back by the end of spring. Porter rolled his ankle around spring break.

Some interesting comments in here....

I wonder due to Hager’s development is why that other DT (Roach) is rumored to move to OLB (basically switching positions compared to last year).

That is reminiscent of the intramural team that Everett Gay put together of him, William Harris, Stephen Braggs, Tony Jones, et al. They won the University Intramural Basketball Championship,

I feel like that team would have beat a lot of people...

Malcolm Roach (255 lbs) has been getting snaps at OLB

I remember a few times where I saw him get isolated on guy in the flat and it didn't go well. He doesn't look like he has good coverage speed at all, so I'm not sure how that's going to work.

Only strange point.... I have never heard anyone say that red shirting is a bad practice especially for offensive and defensive linemen. At least it seems that most people on this board think one of the biggest problems with the offensive line is the very rare redshirt senior for this program.

Did anyone read the article on our incorporation of the lightning package last year?

My positive takeaway from it was that Overshawn is a natural fit for the dime B-backer. A defensive back long and big enough to disrupt passing and impact against the run.

He is very big for a safety so this fits.

Joe,

That is reminiscent of the intramural team that Everett Gay put together of him, William Harris, Stephen Braggs, Tony Jones, et al. They won the University Intramural Basketball Championship, then challenged Kaiser Bob to a game against his varsity. Weltlich refused and forbid his players to accept the challenge. Sneaking off to Gregory Gym, the varsity kept it close, losing by only 40-50 points to Everett and friends.

I actually had Ron Baxter on a mens intramural softball team. One of our players was the sports writer for the Daily Texan and got him to play. Dude could legitimately knock the crap out of the ball. This was why we got knocked out in playoffs -- our games all just became big swinging homerun contests.

Figured it was worth posting, as it has a lot of related info to some of the posts here...
Good Intel.
Kind of a side tangent, but I thought there was more on Roach in here - must have seen it somewhere else.
Prodigal posted a concern earlier on him and, if I can locate the other piece, it explained some possible plans for Malcolm.
I believe he is a good player who has flashed, the coaches like, and he will find a place.
Anyway, this article offers good insight. It will be interesting to see how often they utilize this package and how offenses counter.
