We have offered a 6'8, 310lb OT from a NY JUCO. He is No. 7 overall JUCO prospect and the No. 1 OT, per the 247 Composite....

Some quotes from this Traore --

“.... Me and coach Warehime were talking for a little bit. One day he called me, said they were extending an offer. I was excited. Texas is one of the top schools I’ve been dreaming about to play at. They play some big time ball at Texas. When he gave me that offer, I was excited.”

“I haven’t figured out an exact date, but I will be visiting the University of Texas. I have no idea (on other visits) yet, but Texas is for sure one of them.”

“They told me that they needed a tackle because their left tackle is going into the draft, so they need someone to compete right away. .... “Depth chart to me is very important as far as coming in in and playing. I’m not there to sit for two years. I want to play right away. Texas gives me that opportunity. That’s why I’m excited – the opportunity to compete right away, possibly play as a starting tackle.”

“They’re definitely up there. Texas is great program, coming up. They’re definitely up there for me. It’s a great school as far as tradition, as far as what I’m looking for. I can’t wait to see it for myself when I get down there.”

Anthony Cook --

On the defense against USC -- “That was a whole different team. That was a whole different team. I loved the defense. They were playing super aggressive. Kinda looking like one of those Alabama or LSU defenses. So, I loved that ......... Texas defense, based on the last game, is playing a whole let better than Ohio State’s defense and even LSU’s defense.... … If Texas keeps doing stuff like that, it’s definitely raising them."

why are they committed and possibles? because they are still willing to OV in Austin?

All the names (including Moore and Ghirmai) are verbals -- not officially committed until they actually sign (and in some cases enroll (see Lamkin)).
Is that what you mean?
We are going to sign more than two OLs. So the rest of the names are a list of candidates to fill out our class.

i just wondered if you knew something about them specifically, like taking an OV to us or waivering with their current commitments.

Trey Stratford -- he's never had ideal size. Not a big problem because he'll add the weight, but then the question is does he continue to move well? He does move pretty well and he looks nastier than I recall. I particularly like the devastation on the pull before he climbs to the second level. He's probably a center and I'm not sure Texas needs one in this class because I think Kerstetter ends up there and Texas will land Branson Bragg in 2019.

Kaitori Leveston -- He might be a take. He has size at 6-5, 290, plus versatility. He could potentially play all five positions. He shows the ability in a variety of blocks as left tackle for a talented Midway squad. He's also an intelligent kid.

Chasen Hines -- His questions have been mentioned much more than his upside. You want to run inside zone? This is your guy. He's extremely light on his feet for his 6-3, 350. His feet are too good to not pursue hard. Factor in the man strength and you have a potential big time mauler. I'd like to see him in the class.

Victor Curne -- I liked him before I knew Chris Petersen did. Curne has the athleticism for right guard perhaps, but his upside and butt-projection has me thinking guard. He's a big kid, 6-5, 320 pounds. That's the same size with better tape than Caleb Benenoch, who also headed West (UCLA) and is now in Tampa Bay.

Jarrett Anderson -- I liked his junior film and love his senior film. If he's as big as his listed 6-5, 285, I'm not sure why he isn't more highly rated. He moves well for the position, plays with a flat back and good feet. Quick in his kick step. He lacks punch but that's what S&C is for. Looks to finish blocks. Should be a LT in college. Todd Graham is on the hot seat. Patterson may be worth a late push.

Man we need one of these guys. Hopefully the real shot at playing as a true freshman sways one our way.

We offered as a DT
Apparently he prefers DT over OG in college (eventhough he's dominant there on film)
And check this -- LSU hasn't offered him at DT (+ LSU already has has 3 DT commits)
This probably explains his twitter comment

Most ESPN 300 commits as of Sept. 29:

Texas 15
Ohio State 14
Penn State & Miami 13
Oregon 11
Tenn & Florida 9
LSU 8

Back to Anthony Cook. With the way our defense is looking at this moment I have to believe he is reconsidering and taking a serious look at us. Of course we are going to get challenged in the next few weeks so we will see how that goes.
