2017 Recruiting

Obviously, getting Chennedy to visit officially is key.

She visited A&M over Labor Day weekend. And, KU this past weekend. Not sure if she has visited Louisville.

Louisville has two guard commitments already; one is PG Dana Evans, the other is a SG, I think.

Some have stated that A&M was the favorite for Chennedy due to her friend, 2016 G Arleighshya McElrory signing with A&M. But, reading the A&M boards, she is not enrolled at A&M, and might not ever attend A&M.

Have seen Chennedy's height listed anywhere from 5'7 to 5'9. If she is closer to 5'9, she gives us some more height in the backcourt, and she definitely has a physical type of frame; so, different than the slender guards we have on the roster.

Bri Taylor graduates and in steps Chennedy Carter... I, for one, really hope we get her.

That is one of the strangest thing to me because I watched Brianna Taylor play point guard at Dekaney HS. Without Bri Taylor at the point, Dekaney struggled breaking presses and traps. She made that team go. I was surprised that she's been effective as an undersized power forward.

But now that the program has the talent and size to compete nationally, I think there's enough Joyner Holmes, Jordan Hosey, the Caron-Goudreau twins, and Jada Underwood to man the 4 position that Karen doesn't need to use an undersized PF as much (understandably in situational circumstance when the opposing team needs a 3 at the end of games or match-up issues).

You're right. She played PG in HS out of necessity, then got to college and has had to play out of position again out of necessity. I'm anxious to see her utilized in a more natural role as a 2 and 3. With the experience she's gained, she could prove to be a tough match up for a lot of opposing teams

Just posted by Raoul:
@Raoul_000 Chennedy carter down to Texas A&M and Kansas. Texas and Louisville are no longer in the picture.

Sad news.

A little disappointing, but these kids have to follow their hearts. KU coach must be a really good recruiter!

Another article about Megan with lots of details of the recruiting experience she's had with UConn, Texas and ND.

"On Walker’s official visits, her father asked Texas what the 2018 recruiting class looks like."

Sedona had to have helped on that front.

Would be nice if her mom was a Longhorn lean:
"She said she hopes to make a decision before or on signing day. Her mother thinks Nov. 9 is too far away to keep everyone waiting.

“I do think we need to move on,” said Johnetta Walker. “She is a senior. She has activities and we need to start to prepare for her future.”

Walker wouldn't have any depth chart worries here, as we lose a few in 2018... Academic rankings are very good as well.

The only recruits I recall linked to Texas (after Jatarie White transferred) were Boothe, Patterson, Carter, Walker, Vivian Gray and Cara Ursin. Extremely quiet on visits for Boothe and Ursin. And, Gray only the Oklahoma schools that I've read about.

lots to like about Megan as noted in this article. Regardless of where she ends up, she will be well academically and in basketball.

Horns have ProspectsNation's #53 Shae Routt, 6-2 wing and #7 Sedona Prince, 6-7 post committed so far with room for three more, if I am counting correctly.

Other than that, we had extended an offer to 6'4 Emer Nichols of Houston Westbury Christian, but that was before Jatarie transferred in.

Hadn't heard much about the staff continuing to recruit her so they may have backed off but Emer Nichols committed to aggy yesterday. That puts a&m at 4 commits for the 2017 class.

Rellah Boothe visiting Florida this weekend. Hopefully she'll visit Texas in the next few weeks when we have a football game at home. The next home game for the Horns is next Saturday when they play Baylor.

One final visit for Boothe. Decision time is coming for several Texas targets in the 2017 class.

sorry, didn't mean to confuse anyone. just meant that she had a visit to Florida last weekend and that seems to be her final visit. I thought she had already visited us.

Not much has really been confirmed regarding Rellah. Tweets that she visited LSU and Florida officially are all I've seen up to now. Assuming reports are true that Texas and Ohio State are her other finalists, we'll find out if she makes official visits to either/both in the upcoming weekends.

Jade Williams from Plano Prestonwood committed to Duke. She was !3th rated. As far as I know, there wasn't in any interest in Texas.
