2017 Recruiting

Not to be greedy....well, yes....to be greedy, I'd take both MW and RB and worry about stocking up on guards in 2018.
 
With only one 2017 verbal so far, Patterson, we have room for 2 more. Naturally, this assumes zero attrition.
 
The current roster lists 14 players. Assuming no attrition and the departure of seniors Lang and Taylor, we could take three in 2017.
 
I'm curious why we're not on Zarielle Green's list, especially considering the long connection between Duncanville HS and UT, and her high ranking on every service. Does she not want us, or we don't want her or what? Guess we'll never know. She has Baylor, Tennessee, A&M, Louisville, UCLA, Alabama, Cal and two or three I can't recall.
 
Obviously, we've had very good fortune in signing several players from Duncanville over the years -- Cinietra Henderson is still one of my favorites.

For the 2016 class, we did appear to be recruiting 6'4 Ciera Johnson of Duncanville. I for one really thought we needed to add a post player in that class. But, then in the Spring of 2015, we added the transfer of one of the twins for the 2015 signing class, and Audrey-Ann would be signing later that November for the 2016 class. Despite all that, I though I still had seen some reports that Ciera Johnson was going to be visiting Texas last Fall officially; I had my doubts based on the numbers. Then, Ciera visited Louisville early in the Fall (not sure she visited anyone else), and committed to the Cardinals.

While there's every chance she would have committed to Louisville any way, I thought we were a player for her and really wanted to continue our pipeline at Duncanville. One of the reasons was with Zarielle Green a possibility for 2018. But, I don't think I ever read any reports where she mentioned us. Could be that we already had a commitment from Shae Routt; could be for completely different reasons.

Recently, we've often offered Lolo Davenport of Plano, who probably has some of the same skills as Green and Routt. So, it could very well be that Green just wasn't interested in us. Won't surprise me to see her sign with Louisville.
 
Thx for your insight, Moooooo. I liked Ciera Johnson, too, based on how she played in the McDonald's AA game. I don't like to lose anyone to Louisville, not one of my favorite teams.
