2017 Recruiting?

I'm really curious to see how the DE, outside linebacker group on campus adapts to the new scheme. Hagar, Roach, Omenihu, Fitzgerald, McCullough, Fowler, Elliott.. some will thrive.

This was one of those things you didnt want to see but knew was coming
I dont think it was ever going to work on the academics side
And there were some other off-field issues as well

That's too bad. He appeared to be a guy that could battle his way into early playing time. From what popping out may be more than academics only. I wish him the best of luck and success where ever he goes.

I think Herman will do better with lesser talent than Strong did with his better recruits. But if Herman wins more games then the next few seasons will be easy recruiting for him. They already want to play for Texas, but they also want to win. So when the "W's" come the top recruits will fall right in line. Plus Herman is inheriting pretty good recruits from Strong and I think you will be surprised by the progress from those players as well.

Somehow football in Texas has seemingly hit rock bottom... the elite recruits have no interest... Baylor... Texas and its tail spin... A&M's SEC buzz is gone... Tech? TCU? SMU?

Only Houston was hitting on all cylinders and they just got poached again.

The top in-state guys seem to all be going OOS this class.
For us, next year's class will be better. Larger too. We seem to be in good shape with a lot of the top 2018s. The team winning in 2017 would help alot in this regard

“The Texas coaches informed me that I’m not on scholarship count, and they would contact me and my high school coach in January. But, as of now, I have no scholarship with Texas. So, I can’t be committed without one,” he said. “Texas is my school, but that’s what I was informed. I have no scholarship at the time [being], so I don’t know what’s next. But I did not decommit from Texas. I was the first of my class to commit there and recruited a lot of guys [to Texas]. I wouldn’t do those guys like that.”

The Texarkana, Texas prospect spoke with offensive line coach Derek Warehime regarding the situation. However, he has not yet discussed it with head coach Tom Herman.

Carson also opted to shed some light on rumored off-field issues that led to his departure from the class.

“I have just had a lot going on that took place, and I think the new staff fully understands. But I will bounce back. It’s forever Hook ‘Em. [I’m] just glad coach Strong, [Jeff] Traylor, and [the old] staff believed in me.”

When asked about other schools involved in his recruitment, Carson kept his burnt orange goggles on, refusing to acknowledge any potential new suitors.

“Right now, I just wanna’ ball and get [these] issues resolved with Texas. I only need other options if Texas is not willing to take me.”
