2017 Recruiting?

Somebody already mentioned it, but how in the hell did Ole Miss become our greatest nemesis on the recruiting trail. Yes it has a beautiful campus, but little else. Really confusing to me!
If my wife reads this I'm a dead man but, Beijing, have you ever seen the females on that campus? Just saying. :yippee:

beijing,

$$$$$ The NCAA is coming to Oxford and it's not to visit The Delta Blues Museum or stand at the Crossroads.

"I believe Walker is one of those players that was going to end up at Texas regardless of the coaching change or not. I feel the same way about Chaisson as well. At this point, it would be viewed as much more of a blow to see either end up elsewhere in my opinion."

I think it's the Ole Miss family atmosphere. Sure, coaches everywhere care about their players. But where else is it routine to pay their mamas' utility bills?

TE said playing early was reason to sign with Auburn over Texas ??? Uh...Like we have any stellar TEs at Texas he couldn't beat out...SMDH......

I was just looking at Chris Naggar's Twitter account. He certainly is a member of the team and talks about working hard. I would assume we will see him in the spring game.

I can't find him on any roster. I did find the following but the link to more info does not work. : Updated on 12/15/2016 at 07:12:15 Because he’s a likely walk-on — and walk-ons often have an up-in-the-air type of status — former Arlington High kicker Chris Naggar isn from 50 yards out. While Texas is pursuing other options at kicker, Naggar lists himself as a future Texas... If the server starts working I will try to find the rest of the story.

It is going to be really tough for Herman recruiting this year due to the way Strong approached recruiting which was to not have a whole lot of early commitments and close in the home stretch. With Strong's fate at the very least up in the air after the OSU and OU games, most recruits moved on. Herman would not have been in on most of the recruits at UH that would have considered UT versus other power 5 programs. When Strong was hired he had some benefit of Brown's approach of early commitments (Conner Williams, Vahe) that he held on to. Hopefully, the talent Strong brought in the last two years is as good as advertised (although no real evidence on the field) so that Herman can fade a mediocre 2016 class. If Herman produces 9-10 wins with no blow out losses, I think he will clean up in 2017.

seems like new "hot" coaches coming in had a pretty good first year at the big programs. didn't mack kill it his first winter? i can't remember for sure

Mack's biggest "recruit" was convincing Ricky to stay. Herman whiffed on a similar chance with Foreman.

18. OL - Mike Williams

3 of the Top 7. 7 of the Top 20.

Mack did ok his first two months on the job. While he brought the early commit into vogue. he did just fine with very little onramp.

Mack's recruiting ability was never questioned. His judgement about who to recruit sometimes was. But the odds of him getting who he targeted were pretty darn good.

Herman has a lot of work to do to prove he can recruit as well as Charlie.

Herman has a mountain to climb before he should be mentioned in the same conversation as Mack Brown when it comes to recruiting.

That's no exactly true, but it is nice publicity put out by in the Third Ward.

Yoeman got Warren McVea, who was arguably the most coveted RB in the nation. Of course, they had to teach him to spell his name so he could get 400 on the SAT. Joke was that they started McVea on the last page of the book, so he would be with the rest of the class at the end of the semester. In his defense, he was a much better human being than his HS QB Richard Castillo.

While they didn't use stars, I believe that lineman out of Waeldar (???) would have been a 5*. That the guy they paid $4,000 to, and couldn't admit because he didn't graduate; then paid another $4,000 when he "completed" juco, only to have him commit an armed robbery before he enrolled - BUT, they did sign him TWICE!
