Very nice use of another team's #15. Topical and so satisfying to see again and again and again while enjoying remembering the introduction of "bomar-ed".

2 weeks from today..........#14 Eddie Phillips, may have been the best wishbone QB we ever had..........except for a case of the fumbles that day vs ND we could have won back to back Natty's.

If I recall correctly, Phillips got knocked out about halfway through that game, and Donnie Wigginton came in. We had a drive going very late in the 4th quarter but TE Daryl Comer dropped a 3rd down pass that was a little high from Wigginton that would have been a first down, and Wigginton (who was a decent QB) had the 4th down snap get away from him - ND recovered and we never overcame that last turnover. I really don't like ND.

^^^ 1971 CB. Phillip's played well and kept us in the game, until he got knocked out.

ND was determined to stop Worster after he gained over 100 yards on them in the 1970 CB. So they keyed on him, Worster was playing hurt, rumored to be out very late the night before, thus several very costly fumbles during the '71 game.

UT did win and claims a National Championship for 1970. At that time, the UPI poll named their Natl. Champ at the end of the regular season. The other poll, Assoc. Press, named NC after the bowl games. AP named another team the NC in 1970.

Don't remember who. Maybe Nebraska? ND?

Ray Guy Award winner 2017. The team’s all-time leader in punting yards (10,242), punts (226), and punting average (45.32).
First team All-B12 2016-17, unanimous All-American in 2017 (only the 21st Texas player to achieve that honor). Texas Bowl MVP.
It was hard to imagine this guy in 2015 developing into the game changer he became.

Shown here in the Orange Bowl victory over Broadway Joe and ‘Bama.
Won a championship ring backing up Tommy Wade and Duke Carlisle in 1963. He came within a failed two point conversion of leading the team to it’s second natty in 1964.
