On the verge of 7 days to kickoff vs. Rice Cheer!

I have a TON of empathy for those of you planning to attend that 100+ degree day game at DKR next Sat.

I strongly suspect CDC will have record numbers of heat related emergencies in the stands! Perhaps on the field? Maybe worse than emergencies....

This situation could have been avoided if CDC had said- screw the networks... we are playing the game at 7:30 or 8!!

Hell, LHN could pivot and carry the game!! What was LHN going to show during the live game vs. RICE anyway?

Reruns of a meaningless soccer game or some campus debate?

Agree Worst except play it at 11 am. At 7 pm it would still be in mid 90s and the field and stands would be really hot from baking in the sun all day.

You’re correct 67 but forgetting the sun setting around 8’ish. Not having the sun beating down on you has maximum effect on how you feel in the heat. I’d take an 8:00 pm game in this temp over any other time any day. Not happy with CDC on this at all.

I totally agree. It just shows that CDC doesn't give a damn about the fans in the stands.

HG,

I questioned Fred wanting to recruit Todd. I told him there were 8-9 receivers on that team that would play D-1 ball, but that if Todd was in trouble, he could just throw the ball up and Duhon would come down with it. I do not recall ever seeing any HS team with so many receivers, some of whom were RBs and a couple of future QBs.

Brent Duhon, Port Arthur Jefferson

One of two big time recruits out of the Golden Triangle in 1981 with the aforementioned Todd Dodge. He finished his Longhorn career with 53 receptions for 1032 yards and 7 touchdowns.
An excerpt from SI’s Faces in the Crowd on January 23, 1981 reads:
BRENT DUHON
PORT ARTHUR, TEXAS
Todd and Brent, both seniors, broke virtually all the Texas high school passing and receiving records, many of which were set by the NFL's Tommy Kramer and John Jefferson, in leading Thomas Jefferson High to a 14-1 record and a berth in the Class 5A title game. Todd, selected as the top U.S. high school quarterback by the National High School Coaches Association, completed 221 of 357 passes for 3,137 yards and 30 touchdowns. Brent caught 89 of those throws for 1,380 yards and 16 TDs.

#6 Randy McEachern QB

Longhorns folk hero who he came off the bench as the third-string quarterback to beat Oklahoma in 1977.
Led 1977 team to No.1 ranking at the end of the regular season. Unfortunately, lost to ND in the 1978 Cotton Bowl.
