Gulf of America

Mount McKinley

Next, we need to rename the Pacific Ocean the American Ocean

The South China Sea could be the American Colonial Sea (the CCP will like that one...)

Ah yes, the United Kingdom can now be named "Pre-America".

Sorry folks. Trump is totally wrong on this and already violating his oath.

He should have just put enforcement of TikTok on hold while the limited resources were used for other, more pressing, enforcements. It's not that he's not enforcing, he will. It's just that one must prioritize in a world with limited resources, so it gets very low priority for resources among the enforcement.

Will the in-person fed workers still be allowed to wear their pajamas and fuzzy slippas?
Somewhere in the deep recesses of my head cautions my always-dark-suit-wearing retired insuranceman uncle: "Casual days make for casual ways.".

That's bull$hit. There's adequate resources to enforce the ban.

Looked her up. Which bozos voted for the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act ??

It was passed in the early '90s when Democrats controlled the House and Senate. The parties were less polarized back then, so quite a few on both sides bucked their leadership. For example, Kay Bailey Hutchison voted Yes.

Ha, made me smile thinking ‘is there anything for which we have inadequate resources?’, no offense intended just struck me funny. Within our govt power structure there can always be adequate resources found.

If the online summary is correct, it looks like Congress lumped blocking abortion clinics and blocking churches together. Gee, what a nice combo.

They probably threw that in there to try to make the law not only about abortion. Honestly, the law is unconstitutional and should be struck down.

Carter did at least one thing right as prez. In 1979 he appointed Paul Volcker as chairman of the Federal Reserve.
Taking on inflation through higher interest rates was great for the long term economic health of tbe US, but politically disastrous for Carter.

He was in a lose-lose situation. Inflation will kill a presidency, but reining it in often does too. The political lesson should be to avoid inflation. The problem is that the policies that create inflation (loose monetary policy and high government spending) are politically popular in the short term.

OPEC led energy price increases were arguably more a factor in 70s inflation than fiscal policy. Then as now the answer to federal revenue needs was to pass the burden future taxpayers.

  • Federal employees who work for DEIA offices are to be put on paid leave "immediately", with a deadline of 17:00 EST (22:00 GMT) today, as the agency "takes steps to close/end all DEIA initiatives, offices and programs"
  • Also by 17:00 today, all outward-facing websites and social media accounts are to be taken down and for DEIA-related training to be cancelled
  • By 12:00 EST on Thursday, the memo says a report should be filed to the OPM with a "complete list" of diversity and equity offices and employees who work in those offices
  • And by no later than 17:00 EST a plan should be submitted to the OPM outlining "reduction-in-force action"

I figure that in 3 or 4 more years, white men could justifiably attempt to take advantage of the same DEI programs, having been so thoroughly excluded up until said point.

However, I much prefer the certainty of completely ****-canning the programs instead, and going back to a colorblind, merit based approach.

Maybe, but Reagan kept Carter's policy, rates went even higher, and then he won a landslide in 1984. So maybe people understood the long term need. That said, I was very young in 1980, so I don't remember why people didn't vote for him.

Yes, because doing the alternative would give minorities a legit grievance and increase the chances of getting into some kind of DEI crap in the future.

So I wandered into a book store yesterday. I asked the pink haired 50 something clerk if she could help me find a book. She asked if I knew the title. I said no but it was President Trump's latest book on his plan to eliminate illegal immigration.
She said," Get the Hell out and Don't come back".
I said," That's the one! Do you have it?"
