Coronavirus

Those on the government payroll are apparently all grifters:

I think there's a lot of truth to what Matt Yglesias said in this thread. (He's a guy who used to be a smug douche when he worked at Vox, but since he got burned for liking free speech, it's clear that his smugness and douchiness were actually just an act to impress his smug, douchie friends at Vox and other liberal media outlets.)

Yeah funny how Yglesias got red-pilled (if only a little bit). Didn’t see that one coming.

“Some things may be true even if Trump said them” Jon Karl ABC “news”. Talking about Wuhan lab maybe the source for Covid. This is the problem, the media has brainwashed the libs.

I think discussing it is fine. Acting like it was some purposeful act was not helpful to actually addressing it. Nate silver has also caught some liberal heat for not shooting it down.

Most people I've heard discussing it are treating it as a negligent act, not an intentional one.

The gain of function was intentional, so it raises the question why? I understand that it is done defensively, to learn about how to vaccinate against it in case of intentional attack or unintentional mutation in nature. Not surprisingly 50% or more of folks call BS on that. It will be impossible to parse the two.

The smart people on Twitter know it came from Chinese lab. Media is like 1 year behind on this being located in DC and TDS. A year from now we could be facing severe sanctions against China and its backlash. Watch folks switch around and say it’s your patriotic duty to be vaccinated against the red virus.

When I see someone wearing their mask, can I assume they don’t believe the science behind the vaccine since everyone has been eligible for 30 days? And if they are wearing it alone in a car that they don’t believe in logic?

I think some wear it in their car out of habit. I agree that they look foolish. I’m of a kind that I’m vaccinated and I embrace the status quo of eastern trumpland and go commando.

The NSA has all the phone calls, text messages, etc. Only a matter of time.

>50% of folks still wear it in the grocery store even though folks are keeping 6 ft distance and the air flow is pretty good. For some reason, folks wear it more in drugstores and grocery stores than other places. I would say this weekend for first time I don’t feel awkward NOT wearing a mask in public.

I think we can all agree that China did NOT act in the best interest of the world after they discovered it. Regardless of its origin.
That is a fact, but I think people are less judgmental on that since every government puts their people first before others in adverse times.

I think they had a duty to protect the rest of the world as well. If a virus breaks out in Paris, TX Greg Abbott has a duty to both his state and also his neighbors.

Careful what you wish for Bubba. He may decide the Okies have overstayed their welcome. We can find others to serve fries.

Gain of function research can be helpful to studying vaccines as well as to develop biological weapons. The weapons angle sounds more nefarious, but that still wouldn't make it an intentional leak. I'd bet my left arm that we conduct and fund both types of research in the United States.

Of course, none of this absolves China of responsibility. Rather than acknowledge any leak and being open about everything they know about it, they've lied, played the race card, and obfuscated. They are major villains in this either way. In fact, they are villains in this even if the bat theory turns out to be true. We need to wake up and start treating them as such. Those who have covered for them in the United States should be exposed and lose their credibility.

Whether it was negligence or intentional is really missing the point though...the reality IS that a leak is a leak. And it certainly appears that DJT was correct when he said this CAME FROM A LAB IN WUHAN! And now we have the media admitting they downplayed it as conspiracy precisely BECAUSE Trump...

To be clear, nobody has established that the vaccine caused either of their deaths. In the case of Shakespeare, the dude was 81 and was in the hospital's "frailty ward." It's no shock that he would die of a stroke. The model's death is more cause for concern.

There's a reason why I'm avoiding the AstraZeneca vaccine.

My boss's 36 year old nephew died of Covid a month ago. No real underlying conditions to speak of except that he smoked. I have taken both shots. So have my kids. We made the decision and we're moving forward.

Chris Hayes is a partisan hack, so I don't expect better from him. The headline from the supposedly unbiased New York Times calling it "debunked" is a bigger fraud. I've noticed that term used a lot by the mainstream media in recent years, and when I've seen it, it has almost always been about something that hasn't been proven conclusively but definitely hasn't been debunked. They falsely use the terms interchangeably.

The term "Debunked" has been used by Liberals for at least 15 years or more. I've seen it all over the internet in that time and it is their way of hammering a nail back into a board. It's like when they go, "Ummm..." You know what's coming next; an arrogant retort.

How could being a smoker NOT be an underlying condition that would make fighting a respiratory virus pretty difficult to do?

Why is it okay to be racist against India? Because Trump and Modi are friends?

Because unlike China, India doesn't have the media on their payroll via vacation junkets to China and ads in newspapers. Plus China has the entertainment complex's nuts in a vice and can threaten to keep their movies and TV shows out of China. So the byline reporters are told to tote the line, and like the organ grinder monkeys they are, they clamp and dance accordingly.
