I think so, because if I heard correctly, he/she ended up getting back together with the ex-wife.

I still think what's worse depends on how much you pay for the prostitute, because if she was cheap, at least you got a good deal.
 
Depends on the prostitute and who you are cheating with. Some prostitutes are really bad and some less so.

Some affairs can be satisfactory and some less so.

I never married and I never cheated on a girlfriend. Didn't seem right. Still doesn't. But then I am not committed permanently to anybody and that does make a difference.

Some of my married friends have gone to prostitutes as a lark and that is not so good. If they are doing it because of misery or lack of amor with the wife, prostitution may be a reasonable alternative as a way to avoid divorce--if you have an affair it can get extraordinarilly messy.

I have one friend who is very far along in years and bitterly resentful of his wife cutting him off for religious reasons: she is catholic and he was married before and so she now thinks that it is adulterous to have sex with him. He thinks she should have thought about that before they married close to forty years ago and sees no reason why he should suffer because of her religious awakening.

A prostitute now and then might give him a safety valve. Or it might give him an STD.

All depends on the circumstances.
 
He is not catholic but does not think it would be good for their kids, adults but religious, for him to bail; plus they have a pretty symbiotic relationship otherwise.

Who wants to start over in their seventies?

This is not the first time I have seen this phenomena among catholic couples.
 
Well - It's ******** that his wife is doing him that way. I think it's about more than the lack of sex. More like completely disregarding his physical desires. How would she feel if he flat out refused to do **** that was important to her? If I were 70, I wouldn't look at it as too late. I'd look at it like I need to hurry the hell up.
 
im guessing that the story has nothing to do with religion, and a lot to do with the old bag being tired of spreading them.

She's using the catholic ******** as a crutch. I'd show her the ******* door. Doesn't this mean that the kids are a product of adultery?
 
I guess I'm in the minority, but I think hiring a prostitute is far worse. With an affair, you are throwing your marriage away for something that might have benefited you both physically and emotionally. The other person in the affair might also have some redeeming qualities. You may even develop a lasting mutually beneficial relationship.

With a prostitute, you are throwing away your family for something deviantly sexual. You risk STDs for mere moments of pleasure - that you have to pay for. It would be like paying hundreds of dollars to go eat garbage at the city dump. You also have the guilt of knowingly contributing to the prostitute's way of life. You are likely supporting her drug addiction and dangerous lifestyle. Just terrible.
