West Virginia Series --- SWEEP!

I am not sure if 40 wins guarantees a regional seed but I do think that if Texas can win tomorrow and win the Big XII tournament that it will be hard not to seed them in the 14, 15 or 16 slot. The real question is would it be better to be a two seed in a regional for the 8,9,10 or 11 seeds so that the super regional is not against one of the top two or three teams in the tournament or be a low seed and get that huge home advantage for the first weekend. Tough call because you always want to have that huge DFF hosting advantage and you have to get out of first weekend to be playing in the supers in the first place. Still a ton to play for over next 24 hours and the next week.

Yep. There's lots of baseball left to be played.

As long as we don't have anything to do with Wake Forest, I don't care who they put us up against. Frankly, I'd actually like to face LSU or Kentucky in a Super Regional.

You gotta like this. WV puts their baseball coaches' (including assistant coaches') phone numbers on their internet baseball team page. (see attached) Now that's ballsy. I don't see our athletic dept doing that. Could you imagine the crap pessimistic fans would heap upon our coaches ...?

Or, it could be that WV baseball fans are few in number and apathetic...

"Another player Mazey highlighted was left-handed pitcher Ben Hampton, who had the best ERA (4.66) among the Mountaineers’ qualified starters last season, and also tallied 90 strikeouts in 83 innings. While his ERA was far from stellar, a strong summer in the prestigious Cape Cod Baseball League could skyrocket Hampton into the conversation as one of the better starters in the conference. Hampton pitched to a 2.31 ERA across 42.2 innings in Massachusetts.

He said he added a changeup to his repertoire over the summer, while also focusing on locating his pitches better."

“That was something that the pitching coach out in the Cape really helped me with,” Hampton said. “Just improving my mentality on the mound, going after guys, being aggressive, getting ahead and attacking them with all my pitches.”

I don't see how they put anyone but Ben Hampton on the mound to start tomorrow. He's pretty good.

Of course, there's maybe one or two (or more) batters in our lineup who have been known to feast on LHPs...

Witt hits a batter but puts up another zero to let the hillbillies know this is how it is and its gonna be that way all the time.
