Week 8 Prediction Thread: Texas vs OSU...I'm Your Huckleberry

I've seen this movie too many times. I have too much scar tissue built up over the last decade. I think Ewers is going to be great but I don't think he's there yet. Nothing would please me more than seeing this team take a huge step forward so I hope I'm wrong.

I can't help but feel there was a little bit of OU hangover impacting us on Saturday v ISU. I think we come out and play well, but we'll need to in order to survive the Pokes at home.
Horns - 35
OSU - 31

This is a tough one to predict. OSU is smarting from the loss in Fort Worth - but they showed that their defense is vulnerable. Texas won a trap game against Iowa State. Texas defense is getting better - but still vulnerable to big pass plays. Both the OSU offense and the Texas offense are capable of basketball scores. I fear a high-scoring game - but I think the Horns can win a high-scoring game.

Texas 48
OSU 45

Boy I hate to pick against us, but have a bad feeling about this one….hope I’m wrong. I actually think we contain TCUs QB and beat them. Man that Tech loss gives us very little wiggle room.

I think iSUs defense > OSUs

Still too many factors at play here to say...real tough one to call

Pokes. 34

:)

If Texas commits to run the ball hard and often all 4. quarters.
If Texas gets pressure from the front 7.
If Texas plays improved third down D.
If Ewers is cool and calm in the pocket and distributes the ball well.
If the O line keeps progressing.

:osu:34
Think it takes a Bert Auburn kick very late to seal this. Could be a 50 yarder!

So far we have 29 predictions with 18 for Texas and 11 for OSU. This week will be real interesting. I predicted Texas to lose this game on my Confidence Prediction and as of today I still feel this way but I will wait until later in the week to make my prediction on this game. If the defense wasn't so wishy washy then I would feel better predicting a Texas win.

if we get all those "ifs" then we win 49-0!

Vegas is now -6 across the board except for Westgate, which moved to -6.5.

This suggests crazy money is coming in from the respected bettors...this is not a Joe Tourist move.

When money moves like that, are the bettors generally right?

Texas by a lot. Actually about 10. 35-24.

The key to the game is pressure. It’s what kept Bama at bay for 3+ quarters. It also was poor versus ISU. We sacrifice some pass D for run D. I’m not sure OSU can exploit it to the full extent.

We should score quite a bit. Pretty much all teams have moved the ball versus OSU.

When you see the BIG early week money that can move numbers, someone tends to know something.

I'm sure someone tracks records on the huge line moves, but at the end of the day, it is like the VSIN guys say on 'hold or fire'- if you like OSU, then fire, if you like Texas, wait because the number will likely come down at least a point by the end of the week.

The 'respected' money moves numbers early in the week...it can ALSO contribute to a late-week drop when the buy-back on the other side comes in, sometimes from the same people. The scene from Casino about being wired in isn't that far off from even the current reality...

At six, this would likely be a stay-away for me just given the history between the programs. The O/U is only at 64 1/2 right now, which I also feel is low. I would instead be looking at the money line on this one...at this moment in time. For informational purposes only, the 'horns are -240 while okie lite is +205 right now. And, to be honest, neither of THOSE numbers, as a bettor, thrill me...

OSU defense is poor or not good. Horns gonna light up the score board. Will the defense bow up?
Im thinking so. Not sure on a score yet.

Quit throwing to 88. Get 4 more touches. Defense will get multiple picks this game.

Dang, I don’t like this game one bit. Not really a trap game, but if we start slow it will get away from us. Seems like Spencer has been around for a long time. We have got to get the jump on him. His legs are his strength, so we can’t afford to let him get mobile. With that said:
Mighty Quinn Horns ~ 27
okie lite ~ 24
*just no way I can bet against my Horns
