Week 8 Prediction Thread: Texas vs OSU...I'm Your Huckleberry

I’m going to wait a little before making a prediction. But after that loss yesterday to TCU, is OSU looking forward to be hit in the mouth? Our OL is getting nasty. The run game in 2nd half won the game. Our defense is salty outside of 3rd and long. Just saying that I don’t think our more formidable opponents are licking their chops this season like past seasons.

I have had this one in the loss column all year. OSU blew a big lead against TCU and will be stinging from that. If the Horns can get off the field on defense on third down, if the Oline continues to grow and doesn’t regress in tough road environment, if Ewers doesn’t have a meh day, if if if. Too many ifs for huge road game. I really hope I’m wrong and am eating big ol plate of crow Saturday night but I see:

Okie State 38
Texas 34

We’re good enough to beat them, but it’s gonna take our A game. It’s going to be a tough one, and mobile QBs kill us.

I don’t have a prediction yet but OSU will be fired up at home, wanting to get that disappointing loss behind them. Feels to me like a near-perfect game will be needed to get out of there with a win. Gundy has a very good team playing well right now.

If they come in thinking they are playing the old longhorns, they will lose.

Texas has a few conundrums going at the moment. Run defense is on point, but struggles against running QBs. Allowing less then 20 points per game but third downs highly suspect. Emerging star at Qb with weapons everywhere, but first road start in one of the more hostile big 12 venues.
These games at Okie lite always turn into shootouts and Texas plays well there. Need to think a little more. Oklahoma State’s defense looked vulnerable to solid run attack and good receiver from TCU.

While I agree with FWHORN, I don't think the disparity will be that large. I still think Okie Lite stinging from a loss to TCU motivates them more than 49-0.

I hope that I am wrong, but this is a venue almost like Lubbock. They are down, we are up. Trap game.

Focuseness. Where is Bill In Sinton?

Look at the bigger picture and JUST WIN. Otherwise, I will be joining FW in a crow fest. Nothing against FW, but I don't want that.

5 Games (3 on the road) remaining, and Texas has to be up for each. Odds say they will lose at least one. At least one team in the CCG probably will have 2 losses. Can a Texas team that shows tendencies to get high for the "important" games and not so much the game aftwards beat @KSU and @ Kansas, as these are sandwiched between oSu, TCU, and Baylor?

Texas 38
oSu 35

TCU put up 224 yds rushing against them. Bijan and Ro ought to be good for that and more. Duggan passed for 289. I'm starting to feel good about this one.

Texas 38
OSU 28

A backup QB almost beat us and and yet again our defense made him look like a Heisman candidate in our own stadium. ISU scored two more points than Alabama against our defense. This team still has trouble playing with consistency week in and week out.

If we can win on the road then I know we have turned the corner. Spencer is a RS Senior, he is going to eat our secondary up if we can't get pressure. I'm hoping we go undefeated but the poor defensive play showed up again and we have not played well on the road since TCU last year. Until this team proves otherwise that they can play on the road with consistency then all these road games are losses. OSU, KSU and KU, all of them are pretty strong teams and want to beat us bad before we leave. Which defense shows up Saturday? Is this team going to take the next step? We are 1-5 the last two seasons on the road, not a good stat, with the lethargic play i saw yesterday, i don't see that trend changing.

OSU 48
UT 35

I put this as a Texas loss in my preseason pick with value of 2…
But I’m hedging my bet here. If Texas run defense plays the way it has all year, I like making Sanders and the Ok State Offense one dimensional. I continue to be unimpressed by him as a passer. See stat line from TCU game. We play well offensively historically in Stillwater. This will be big test and chance for Ewers to come of age. Watts should be back from stinger. He was clearly missed. Our run game shows up and JT goes off.
Texas 34
Ok State 31

Texas 28 OSU 35. They successfully shut down our running game and we don’t apply enough pressure on their QB. The officials mess with Texas again.
