Week 13 Prediction Thread: Texas at Texas A&M...A Rivalry Renewed But One Sided.

If by joining the SEC A&M "tucked tail", what was it when UT joined the SEC?

Also, "do-over" game? WTF? If A&M wanted a "do-over" game it would have agreed to the home-and-home CDC offered in 2018.

Don't forget, A&M requested to continue the series as non-conference foes. Dodds said no. I suppose he thought not getting to play UT would be some sort of punishment. UT changed its mind about that after a few years of underwhelming attendance for the much anticipated meetings with Tech and TCU. I distinctly remember Tom Herman noting

Talk about a slap in the face to Baylor, Tech, TCU, etc.! I mean y'all have a trophy for the Tech game!

Sorry for the thread derail but I don't have privies to start a thread on this site.

TLDR

It has been my feeling since the start of the season that A&M wins this game late in the 4th quarter by way of a turnover, one big play, or some other kind of break going their way. The Aggies are a home team and they'll play their best game of the year tonight. This isn't our rivalry, it's theirs.

I told friends and family to pay close attention to the Arkansas game as it would likely be a sneak peek of the A&M game in some ways. What I saw was a low scoring slug fest on the road ringed by a hostile crowd that hates us more than they love themselves. We got the breaks in a game we also could have lost.

Several of the better defenses we've played against this year have done a fair to good job of taking away the deep strikes we like to set up and I believe the Aggies will try to do this in part by ruthlessly pressuring Ewers. He's not a run threat, he's nursing a bad ankle, and I don't think he's looked comfortable or himself since the oblique injury early this year. This is not good. The Georgia game is exactly what the Aggies would love to do against our offense.

In this game I think we'll need a lot of mobility from the quarterback with rolling pockets, zone reads where the QB is a legit threat to run, etc. That's not Ewers, that's Manning and I believe the latter gives us a much better chance to win.

Me thinks most honest aggys are are far more worried they win this game than us.

Auburn LOSS physically wore them out. We got them at at a good time. But due to this EPIC game they will give us an extraordinary effort to win.
Talked with my diehard aggy nephew-in-law who describes himself as a “realistic aggy.” He said he doesn’t see aggy winning and hopes it’s at least somewhat competitive.

Sark finally realizes that it can indeed be wise not to always go for it on 4th and short. FG late puts the game into cover category on both spread and the over.

Quinn will not be 100% tomorrow. I wonder if Sark will still start him anyway?

If Ewers has a high ankle strain, there would be no hope it would improve by game time. Ergo, it’s not a high ankle sprain.

If Quinn isn’t able to move up in the pocket or roll the pocket left and right then he will not play the whole game. I think Sark will keep Arch warmed up and ready.

Well heck... the game none of us wanted to come back has returned. Unsurprisingly it comes in its usual guise... Longhorns playing for something big, Aggies playing to be the spoiler.

My beloved Aggies are banged up and beat down. The hated Longhorns are coming in on top of the SEC. This game will be intense but adrenaline can only get one so far.

Just thinking strategically ...

Winning tonight’s game matters but the bigger goal is a playoff run to the natty.

So if Quinn’s ankle is still dinged up, playing on it tonight, even a little, will only make it worse going forward. Why not rest him, play Arch, hope for the best with that and preserve Quinn for the CFP?
