Week 12 Prediction Thread: Texas vs Iowa St...Maybe This Will Happen Before the Second Half...

Breaking just now...My crack team of spies have gotten early shots of the field conditions on Saturday for our team to prepare for.

I suspect it will be a tight first half because weird things seem to happen in Ames at night. They won't have the luxury of laying down in the second half which means they stay focused with their foot on the gas. Texas wins in the second half pulling away late.

With JB hurt by the roaches, we will have a tough time with this one.
ISU 35
TEXAS 27
I hope like heck I am wrong, hoping reverse psychology will work.

If only we had an offensive philosophy that is related to pushing the pedal to the metal sort of thing for 2 half’s. If only.

Its too early for me to predict the score: too many variables that need to be sorted out. Like, is Brooks healthy enough to play; who alternates with BAxter if Brooks is out; any injuries on the defensive side; will Coach K still be calling the Defensive schemes (it felt good just to throw that out).
And I need to take a closer look at ISU's performances since their shellacking at the hands of ou. They are a different team now.
Right now, with the Defensive collapses and the Brooks question, I'm not optimistic about beating the whirlwinds in Ames at night.

Texas will have a 20 point lead at some point but will win because I absolutely am expecting a loss:

Texas 28
Iowa State 24

The Horns surprise us all by finally playing a complete game on both sides of the ball.
With the possibility of JB being out, Baxter, KR, Blue, and Red will step up and play lights out. Pk tightens up the secondary.
Horns 34
State 20

Agreed - game will be decided on who shows up in Ames: 30 point Pete or 20 point Pete?

This game, being on the road, will require a level of preparation similar to the Bama game. I say that partially because of what we have observed – the collapses – in three of the last four games.

Sark’s has been claiming that our best game, a complete game, is still in front of us. I believed that until last night. Now, now so much. We are the team that we have been seeing.

I don’t believe that an effort, an incomplete game, similar to what we saw versus Houston, KSU, or last night results in a victory at Ames.

I’ll be optimistic and say that we pull it off, but it’s going to be tough.

TX - 27
ISU - 24

Some insiders are saying this time it's Brooks' knee. I guess we'll find out today or tomorrow. KR did not play last night and wasn't seen on the sideline. I read he's pissed about lack of carries and considering Baxter isn't getting it done it's a legitimate complaint. He's a good change of pace and not having him on special teams certainly hurts. We don't need a Freshman trying to prove he's the next greatest thing. That's a fumble waiting to happen in addition to not taking the free 25 YL.

I'd like to see more Blue. He's shown more "it" than Baxter. One fumble doesn't make him a fumble machine.

To me, with Brooks out, this game is a toss-up. ISU always seems to play the horns tough. Horns are in a strange place--unable to pull away and win comfortably against inferior teams. Lots of teams are picking Coach K's soft zone apart in the fourth quarter.

Does anyone have confidence that if ISU gets the ball on their 25 yard line with 1:45 left and one time out Coach K's D will keep them from scoring?

My head says ISU wins a close game. My Heart says DON'T PICK AGAINST TEXAS.
