Good Lord Nicky...pretentious much?

From what I can tell, if I don't like soccer or find it boring, it's cause I'm stupid and can't understand it. And if I'm a diehard fan who lives and breathes the sport, it's cause I'm a lowbrow and too stupid to appreciate anything of real quality. So either way I'm an idiot.

I think it's time we all just agree to disagree...clearly it's not for everyone.
 
No, groundss you aren't stupid for liking soccer (imo) and if you could read you could read my opinion that: "I never said that people who find soccer amusing are stupid or boring (although I DO know of at least ONE really stupid person who likes soccer and posts about how much he likes the sport)." I'm sure you weren't hoping for the parenthetical distinction in my own small mind, but you aren't the stupid person I was thinking of. I apologize. I should have been more considerate. Please accept my apology.

You guys started dogpiling (which is something true longhorns don't do) on Driftwood and 360 and I chimed in with my opinion that I find the sport boring. Apparently, that is an insult for some reason. Clearly, it is not an insult to ME if you have a different opinion.

Patronizing? I am a father, but I really don't give a rat's *** about raising other children. I'll just be content to have my OWN opinions. If you want to have your own, different opinions about anything at all I fully support your right to have them (like my support or permission means jack **** - I don't take myself THAT seriously).

I maintain my right to think lowly of people who can't read when they have been able to avail themselves of all the extremely rich opportunities afforded by the US and/or UT. I typed a veiled insult at ONE poster (ok, the insult wasn't veiled, but you don't know who I was referring to) and all of a sudden I have misstated the notion that roughly half of any group is above the average and roughly half is below average in ANYTYHING. I only typed "roughly" because there are people who hit the "average" mark.

Here is where the real dispute (if you can call it a dispute) lies. Conflict? Disagreement? Pick your own word. I don't care for soccer or futbul or whatever you wish to call it. That is nothing more than an opinion which you CANNOT dispute. It does not amuse me or interest me. I agree with the original poster and I will have the OP's back that he is not a moron for not being amused or interested. If he or I said YOU were stupid for having a different opinion, that would be hard to defend. How do you defend YOUR arrogant stance that I am not entitled to have and express opinions without being called names. Is that typical of soccer aficionados (I know that isn't true)?

Futbol itself doesn't have opinions. Neither do baseball, basketball, etc. I'm quite sure I didn't bruise THEIR egos. If one cannot understand the difference between entertainment and , well, something that actually matters then that person is going to have 4 years of despondency if futbol is thier passion. Probably a lifetime if you are an american.

You'll notice not a single post of mine ever tried to sell soccer to anyone, nor did I condemn those who don't like the sport. I've never tried to force it on anyone. My point is that starting threads with the sole intent of shitting on something other ppl enjoy (which is apparently what "true longhorns" do) is a fruitless exercise.

and fyi, hornfans doesn't have a minimum word count for posts so feel free to cut back next time...
 
At least come up with your own complaint instead of stealing someone else's. It Does prove you can read some posts. I have to give you that. You're welcome, genius.

It was the presentation. Not so much by the OP but whoever it was that was spewing untruths. Each time somebody would present a fact it became obvious that they were not here for anything other than a rant.

I can see where somebody may not like soccer because they don't know what is going on. I can also see how somebody could learn about the game and its nuances and still not like it. It is a to each their own scenario. But when one goes out of their way just to be trifling and dumb, well, you know.

I find regular season pro basketball and all pro baseball unwatchable. I don't go on and on about it during the World Series. I would expect to be jumped on and rightfully so.
 
The reason some of the anti-soccer complainers--Longhorny360 and NickDanger, to be specific--have been ridiculed within this thread isn't because they admitted to not liking soccer, it's because their posts were staggeringly idiotic.

Oh, and also because l00p is just that way about anything he believes in. Take it with a grain of salt.

I am also that way about grains of salt. Be careful what you say about them. Don't dismiss them and throw them over your shoulder or something like that.
