Wall-E

I saw it this weekend, and for me the film was definitely on par, if not better than Finding Nemo, which would place it at least in the top 3 of the Pixar films. Animation was excellent, the story was well written and conceived. It may be dark, but it was a high quality film. Further, the fact that it doesn't have dialog makes the watcher become more engaged if they want to understand the film.

the rabit and magician short was great. i laughed my *** off. I am waiting for Pixar to put it online.

Buckhorn,

That is some irony to say the least. Gotta wonder what was going through her mind during the luxury ship sequences.

really good movie, but what do you expect from pixar. they kick ***. they made watching movies with my young one a enjoyable thing while she was still little.

however, this movie can't touch toy story 1 or 2, finding nemo, or the incredibles. it is good though and i would definitely recommend it to anyone.

You must never have been on a cruise ship before then. After a 5 day cruise you could easily tack on 10 lbs. Now we're talking about a 700 year cruise -- 7+ generations of dependence on technology and continual bone loss from the weightlessness of space, you've suddenly turned yourself into the floating fat man from Dune. Doesn't seem like much of a stretch to me at all. Don't be such a sweaty armpit over this movie. Appreciate the message and story it was trying to tell. It was good flick.

Fair enough, though a little explanation for the 'heavy' reliance on obesity might have softened the effect.

Movie was just okay regardless.

don't get why some are so taken aback by that vision of the future. Its pretty much where we're headed on our current course.

Had high hopes, they were dashed.

Cloying, cutesy movie that I thought would never end.

Eeevaah! Wallleee!

Who could give a ****?

Might've enjoyed it when I was seven or maybe eight.

I'd rather watch a black and white Popeye cartoon in reverse than sit through another syrupy creation like this. My girlfriend is a huge Disney fan and she was as bored as I was.

In short: I don't get it.

Me and my wife hated it, but we are skinny so maybe that had something to do with it. It was childish and preachy. Kids thought it was pretty good, but everyone would put it in the bottom 3 of Pixar movies. I am really surprised so many people liked it.

It was not funny, it had a childlike premise that seemed to appeal to teen to twentysomethings with low IQs. Oh well, to each his own. I would not recommend anyone seeing it in the theaters unless you just want to sneak in for the short at the beginning on your way to another movie. It was all downhill after that.

Saw it again this past weekend (took my son the first time, daughter the second). I walked out of WALL-E the first time in shock. I was surprised by the harsh indictment of our culture by a Disney film; I wasn't upset by it, just surprised to see it in without any pretext or subtlety. I enjoyed the movie, but I didn't think it was one of the great Pixar movies. There was a disconnect for me between the love story versus the human story. I could see where it was going, but it didn't really work.

As the movie came to a close yesterday on my second viewing, it moved into my top two Pixar movies. It was such a beautiful movie, and in the second viewing I was able to focus on WALL-E and Eve and the relationship. In doing so, I thought that the two stories told in the movie became more focused. Here we have this little, beat-down, lonely robot, his greatest desire to hold someone's hand. He wants those around him to pay attention, to feel more, to connect, to move beyond one's own "directive." While it may have been a little heavy-handed, humans had moved to the opposite end of the spectrum - they felt nothing, did nothing, interacted with nothing. However, WALL-E changes them as he comes across their paths. The last scene, which I thought a little contrived after my first view, fit seamlessly. Great story, beautiful movie, and I was grateful for the second viewing.

The new Peter Gabriel song at the end during the credits is a great song.

Oh, and BTW, I thoroughly enjoyed the flick. My 6 yr old really liked it. My wife really liked it.

We were all together. Can't ask for a better time than that.

I love that Sigourney Weaver was the voice of the computer. I was waiting for "No Dave..." a la Hal, and Sigourney did it nicely.

While there are many reasons for people to be overweight, the kids all took the overweight people aboard the Axiom to be that way because they did nothing for themselves anymore, and as someone mentioned being in space for 700 years, there is bone loss and no gravity to work against for muscle tone. That just seemed very matter of fact to them.

Interesting discussion in the car on the way home about how everything was made too convenient and disposable, noting how BnG had also trashed up space. All forms of food were "in a cup" so all you had to do was turn your head and sip.

I want one of the little machines that cleans your floors though!

Loved it. Probably tops on the Pixar list. Great social messages, best animation I've seen yet. Some moments of real awe.
And the Presto short before the film was hilarious, too.

p.s. Wall-E does remind me of Johnny 5's little nephew or something.

I saw it last night for my boyfriend's 30th birthday. It was amazing. First of all, we were the only 2 people in the theater. That has never happened before. We loved the first short. The animation was out of this world for Wall-E. It wasn't over the top at all. It was one of the top 5 movie experiences I've ever had. It should get the Oscar.
