Starts tonight! Who's with me?

It might be Ebola, which I believe can be transmitted by swine and one of the symptoms is hemorrhaging from the mucous membranes. It looked like that is what happened with the kid.

Pretty good first episode to the season. The encounter with the woman in the woods was heartbreaking and symbolic of what the world has become.

man i swear that moment when Daryl and Beth were sharing that tender moment i thought they were going to hook up. Talk about awkward. lol

Enjoyed the way they showed the time-passage. That they had gotten organized, started gardens, collected water, fortified the defenses. All this needed to be done some time back and it was a good way to show it so far as television goes.

Going by the comments on Talking Dead, the caca is about to hit the fan. I prefer this. More action, less soap opera.

The ebola turn can pay off. Since we know the virus is inside of everyone, Ebola can cause an outbreak of zombies from within the prison walls.

Does anyone else think that Karen may be playing the group? She was acting kind of odd around Tyreese and then the burned bodies show up with her bracelet on one of them.

I get the feeling that she could have some hidden agenda and faked her own death. Maybe she's working for the governor. Then again, I could be totally wrong.

Maybe all the pigs weren't infected. The one that died was kind of off to itself from what I remember.

The way they were talking, they seem to think it's some type of H1N1 swine flu strain, but that wouldn't explain Patrick bleeding from his orifices.

I felt sorry for the two little girls whose father died, but the older one kind of creeps me out. In a previous episode she was calling the walkers "pets" and may be the one that was feeding them the rats.

He should have greased those piggies, then set them loose with the walkers -- like they do with kids at the rodeo, except way more entertaining.

Man they really need to make better fortifications around the fence line. If a Walker Horde shows up that fence is going down! Other then maybe an acre of razor wire along the fence line and a moat before that they need more of those wood stake barriers they made but all along the perimeter so they can't even get near it. lol

This group has never shown the tendency to identify their own weaknesses and anticipate problems. In all the time they hung around Hershel's farm, they never put a walker-proof barrier around the house or up-armored any of their vehicles. When the walkers did show up, they had no problem getting to the group, and vehicles that got surrounded were quickly penetrated. Of course, fake good old boys Rick and Shane weren't available to make security improvements because they were busy yapping at each other about who could "Keep Lorie Safe".

It's a show about people fighting to survive. A little bit of survival smarts would make it a lot more interesting.

I like the two growing mysteries from within:

1. The Rat King (or Queen) - Who is feeding rats to the walkers? Lizzy, the creepy older sister appears to be a good candidate because she referred to the walkers as "people" and gave them names. Could she be, in a twisted way, simply trying to "feed" the walkers, like one does a pet? If so, she would have to be capable of catching rats, sneaking out of the prison undetected night after night with flashlight in hand, getting up close and personal to some pretty scary walkers in the middle of the night, and feeding them. Seems like a tall order for a little girl to fill without being seen or detected by someone.

Or, is it someone else who has a far more sinister motive, such as trying to generate a breach in the fence line to let the walkers in? Is someone trying to place those responsible for the outer defenses (Rick, Daryl, Glenn, Maggie, Michione, Carl, etc.) into mortal danger? Could The Governor have a a clandestine sympathizer who is trying to sabotage the defenses for The Governor's advantage to bring the entire prison down?

2. The Arsonist - Karen and another resident were quarantined after it was determined that some flu-like strain was circulating in the prison. Later, Tyreese follows a trail of blood outside to two burning bodies, one presumably being Karen because of the bracelet (but was it actually her?). Did they die naturally (from the flu) or were they killed? Were the bodies burned as a health precaution to prevent the spread of the virus or to hide the details of a crime? Is this the work of a would-be samaritan or a killer on the loose?

Is there a link between the Rat King and the Arsonist? Are they one and the same? Interesting. . .

Yeah, Carol went full on Tender Angel of Death in this episode.

First she has a meltdown and dumps the only remaining water stores. Not good with a virus ravaging the colony. Then, she does a solo journey beyond the fence to fix the water only to endanger herself and Rick with a horde of walkers. Of course, she cooly tells Rick she's the killer.

Darryl will be learning new and interesting things about Carol when (and if!) he gets back from the expedition. Anyone else sense a growing chemistry between Darryl and Michione?

This is a little off topic, but maybe someone who pays more attention will know this answer.

Ever since they introduced the woman who was the passenger on the plane during this season's premier, I've been trying to remember if we've seen any actual proof that the zombie infestation is nation, and/or world, wide. Have they shown any news reports in flashbacks or anything that definitely show the virus, or whatever, getting out of the southeast US?

We've never met any "survivors" from outside of the region, even though the CDC is not too far from them. Wouldn't we expect some bands of survivors making their way to Atlanta, much like Rick's crew did in the second season?

What if the "outbreak" of the virus was contained within the southeast US? What if only Georgia, Mississippi, Florida, and South Carolina (just as an example) were infected, and the rest of the world has effectively "quarantined" that area of the world?

Sort of a karma thing due to aggy joining the SEC, or something like that...

Just something I've been kicking around in my head. I honestly can't remember seeing news casts or any other evidence confirming the entire world has been infected, even though it's probably something I've just forgotten because I'm getting old...

I really enjoyed the driving scene. Daryl was doing the apocalypse's version of texting while driving, does not look where he is going and hits some jaywalkers. Then they go to a pan of the hordes of them down he road which was a such terrific shot. I think the show is at its best portraying this type of survival action over the time-consuming character development portions about someone who is going to die in a few more episodes anyway.

Tyreese will go bonkers when /if he gets back to the prison.

Why didn't Rick relocate to Woodberry rather than stay at the prison? Seems to me that the prison is just not anymore secure and a lot less comfortable than Woodberry..

Veggieboy, When the group was at the Center for Disease Control, the Doctor said the French "were the last to hold out, as far as I know." Groundskeeper Willie is on record as saying he's skeptical.
