I have come on these boards every time my two "almae matres" have played in any sport, win or lose, and so I will try and continue to take the high road and say good game and good luck the rest of the way. Better to get the mulligans out of the way in early meaningless tournaments like this than in conference or post season play. It is what it is. Texas probably beats the Vols 8 or 9 out of 10, and if it weren't for the defense alone, it might be 10. I'm betting they were just looking ahead a little to tomorrow night, while Tennessee knew going in that this is the type of win that can turn over a new leaf for a struggling program. Again, good luck tomorrow against Rice, and the rest of the way.

I don't get why Woods was saddled with the loss. In the 7th, Lima reached on an error, but then the next guy walked. After that Woods was pulled. His responsibility, as I understand, is for the guy he walked and Lima's run would be unearned.

Kyle Russell's 3 strike outs weren't bad at bats. He worked the pitch count pretty deep and he wasn't ever in a position to clean up after runners had been put on base and he had to be the first at bat in 2 of those ab's.

The 8th inning was brutal. THis could have been an unforgettable game if it had gone down just a bit differently.

If you had told me that we had 10 hits, 3 of them triples, and our starter went 6 innings with only 1 run given up, I'd of thought it was a blowout.

Can someone refresh my memory of how Walker performed last year?

Yes TENN plays baseball. DeLoss , in one of his brilliant moves tried to hire their Coach ( Delmonico) until he was informed that there was this guy at CSUF ... named Garrido.... who was pretty good.
TENN fired Rod Delmonico last year ( he never played college baseball ) Oh well !!
