Texas baseball coach Augie Garrido was ejected in the top of the seventh inning for arguing a call at third base.
The Longhorns already had allowed three runs in the top half of the inning and trailed Tennessee 4-2 with runners on first and third.
A chopper was hit to Texas third baseman Travis Tucker. The runner on third started to run home. Tucker had him caught in a rundown. While that was going on, Tennessee’s Cody Brown, who was on first, ran all the way to third base.
Eventually Brown and Kentrail Davis, who originally was on third base, both ended up on third at the same time.
Brown should have been out. But the umpires told Davis he was out. The Longhorns tagged Davis as he walked off the bag.
Eventually the umpires allowed Davis back on third, and Garrido was arguing that both players should have been out.
The Longhorns got out of the inning without any further damage.
