UT vs UH

Hinojosa strikes out lookng I think you can safely say he has joined the slump parade.

Moynihan lays yet another bunt down the third base line and once again the third baseman bare hands it and he is called out on a very close play at first. You could tell by the horrible camera angle, but Russ was not pleased in the coaching box.

Then Carter grounds one up the middle and the shortstop ranges over and makes a strong throw to get him.

Suddenly Houston fields like the Dodgers of the late 60's
and we are down to three outs.

Bottom of the 8th down 4-3.

Batter swings at a 3-0 pitch and pops it up foul behind the plate and Marlow runs all the way to the backstop and slides into the wall as the ball goes out of play.

This game gets curiouser and curiouser.
Batter flies out for out one.
Fly ball to right and Hall calls off Payton who had it all the way and drops the ball for a two base error.

This game is not going in the old time capsule for posterity.
Now this time a pop toward left field and C.J. call off the left fielder and he means it and makes the catch for out #2

Here comes Skip and Marlow is done and the new pitcher is
Culbreth in to face the lefty hitter.

To say Culbreth had the Houston hitter just a bit off balance does no justice to what he did to him. First a swing at breaker maybe three feet or so outside. Then he took one down the middle for a K and here we go to the ninth

Trailing 4-3 and what else can happen.

Montalbano pop up for out one.
Marlow with a fly ball to center for out two.
Johnson with the one hopper back to the mound to end it.

Order was restored as we go down in order.

Houston wins 4-3 and I need to go take some aspirin or something stronger as the awfulness and the outcome of this
game is sickening.

What do you say about a game like this. All the ingredients of what killed Texas last year on display.

this team has a lot of work to do if they want a different outcome than 2012.

All this and French is now hurt too.

They said he still has "tightness" in his arm after everybody assured us on the broadcast the tightness had been rubbed out.

Still it's a scary situation that tends to linger with continued pitching. This is what put him out for the season last year.

Little Kalee Hartung who with her smallness seems to be able to sneak around unnoticed at sporting events said she heard French tell a trainer after it happened that "it felt just like it did last time."

That seems like a reference to what happened to him last season and if so it is worrisome to say the least.

One final note in this game of weirdness and true irony.

Nicholson was basically benched from his duties as third base coach and Skip was doing the honors now in the third base coaching box.

First base runner of this new era is Johnson who singles and is picked off first.

Texanne,

I'm glad I didn't decide to travel to Houston for that . . . .

Augie must be pulling out his hair.

He simply doesn't have the talent to win.

I'm amazed at how impotent the bats are. After 20 games we have 5 guys (with 41+ AB's) batting under .200. What a joke. Game after game when we get to the 7th hitter I wish we could just fast-forward to the next round of AB's in the following inning.

Well it looks like another round of disappointing Texas sports. Football, basketball and now baseball. This year can't end soon enough.

That's why UH can hit. Whitting is a fantastic recruiter. He's one of the main reasons that TCU beat us in the Super a few years ago. Now, he is working hard to turn around his alma mater with a good bunch of freshmen.
