UT-TCU

Soft grounder to Shephard I think, who went back to first for the out, so runner able to move up to 2nd, but with 2 outs.

Great pitching by Thomas with a nasty curve for strike 3 and he's PUMPED!

Keyes has broken the seal. We tie it up here at least.

Good call on Rowe. Too bad Augie wasn't thinking along the same lines. Just awful at bat there--watches four pitches to run the count even, then waves at a pitch well out of the zone for strike three.

Connor's looked lost for a while now.

Purke finally gets pulled. I'm sorry, but that was hardly a dominant performance. Dude got bailed out by Texas' lack of patience, discipline and tenacity at the plate. Only Kevin Keyes has showed up today.

Still time for someone else to redeem himself and, by extension, this team.

Oh, come on. I've never seen, say, Cole Green, pitch 7.2 innings in the post-season and strike out 11. Give the guy credit.

Exactly. 3 hits and 11 strikeouts in 7.2 innings is nothing short of TOTAL domination. We got eaten up by Purke. We better accept that.

There you are right. Time and again this year our offense has had trouble against good qality pitching..

Terrible called strike three there but I guess it doesn't matter--TCU takes Game 1, 3-1.

Hats off to the Horned Frogs; they pitched and executed well. Texas' pitchers didn't give TCU's hitters much, but the Horny Toads made the most of it.

Sure hope Jungmann has his best stuff tomorrow. He's going to need it.

TCU is 45 - 0 for the year leading after the 7th inning, means their bullpen is beyond solid. Very impressive TCU win on the road.

Gem, I think we are arguing on semantics. For me, if our batters do not do what they need to do, it is domination of the other pitcher. May be they let themselves be dominated (or may be they are not much better than they are showing anyway), but it is domination either way.

I guess you are making the point that Purke was no big sh*t and a decent hitting team would not do as badly as we did today .. May be that is true

.. After all, we didn't even come close to scoring near his ERA..

On the other hand, tomorrow is another day. Our batters have shown a tendency not to go cold for too long this season.. So I am hoping for something better.

We need to bring everything tomorrow. Hopefully the Horns can settle down tomorrow and be more disciplined at the plate.

I know defense wins championships but I fail to see how conner is the right choice, absolutely abysmal at the plate and so much so that we lose this with him in the lineup. And no I didn't forget about last years South miss game (blind squirrel).
