U of I Game

10 wins in a row. Still some stuff to work on. Offense is performing ok but scary thing is, there is still more to get out of this offense.
Check out the SEC standings. Many teams are 10-0 or 11-0. Don’t know if they played anyone good. For example, Ole Miss is 8-1 (you know who they lost to).

I'm trying not to get too high yet because things are going so well, but this is a MASSIVE change in one summer from the last few years. Can't wait to see where this program goes!
For the lineup: Having Flores and Belyeu come back was huge. Add on A Rod and Mendoza, plus the development of Farmer and Galvan (always had massive power but now he’s not swinging at crap pitches) and we’ve got a top 5 or top 10 batting lineup.

Mendoza was not considered all that great of a batter when he got here, but under Tulo batters get better.

And Winfield hasn’t even burst out of his early season slump yet, although he batted pretty well today. He batted around 0.330 with 12 HR (I think) against decent competition. When he catches fire, he could be hitting like Dave Winfield.

Grubbs or Volantis might be starting on Sundays in the near future.

Or Coach might want to use Grubbs as the fireman/cleanup crew and let him go plenty of innings after he cleans up the mess. That seems to be the pattern for Grubbs early this year.

Another possibility is the “other Flores”—the one that pitches. He may not just be throwing on weekdays for long.
I know from one of his interviews that he thinks Volantis is a likely starter.

Bing isn’t helping himself out with the wild pitches but overall he hasn’t performed poorly. He can contribute but I agree that someone else will end up starting on Sunday. Bing will need to grow confidence with the coaching staff that he can come in and be a solid reliever when called upon though.

We need Mercer to find his old self. I could go on, we haven’t even seen Hamilton or Tumis yet, Jason Flores looked good. Such an exciting year to watch these guys.

Tech ain't fading away. There's a new sheriff in town in the Hub City of the South Plains. Tech has now got themselves a Billionaire ex-football player (Cody Campbell) who is throwing his money into Tech athletics like T. Boone Pickens used to do at Okla. State.

This caused Texas Tech to have the #1 NIL transfer class in the country in football. And he apparently likes the other sports too. Tech isn't going anywhere. If anything, their athletic prowess will increase. Don't worry about us--we're still TEXAS, but this isn't good news for the TCUs, A&Ms, or the Okla States of the world.

Cody Campbell.
The founder of Texas Tech's NIL collective The Matador Club, Campbell was the main financial source for the Red Raiders' top-ranked transfer portal class this winter. Campbell is the co-founder and CEO of Double Eagle (independent E&P co. operating in the Permian Basin). Double Eagle was recently sold for $4.1 Billion to Diamondback.

Very nice cap to a very nice weekend of Texas baseball. I certainly didn't have 9-1 start on my bingo card for the first ten games. I still see some tough sledding in the SEC and we all need to be ready for some rough weekends ahead but I am more than gruntled by these early returns on the schloss era.

Yeah, I'm still not convinced. tceh will always be tceh, and Lubbock will always be Lubbock. Let's give those kids a couple of months out there and just see if that #1 class holds up and exits like aggy's #1 recruiting class from a couple of years ago.
