Trump Revealed Classified Information ....

.... blared the San Antonio Express-News front page headline this morning, as if it were gospel.

It all stems from a WaPo article citing anonymous "current and former U.S. officials" (link below).

H.R.McMaster, who was in the meeting, categorically decried the article as false. There were only 4 or 5 people in the room. So how could "current and former U.S. officials" (plural) possibly know? More fake news? Did The Resistance decide that they'd gotten all the run they could out of the firing of the Greatest FBI Director Ever and need new ammo?

So every person in the room and Russia strongly denied the accusation on the record.

Yet WaPo references anonymous sources who weren't present and tout the charge as gospel without contacting a single person at the meeting.

The reckless, witch hunting MSM is bordering on treason. When does fake news with malicious intent to falsely tie the President to a crime meet the definition of treason?

"the crime of betraying one's country, especially by attempting to kill the sovereign or overthrow the government"

Hey dumbasses. He has ADMITTED it already. What part of that is so hard to understand? That is TREASON pure and simple. LOCK HIM UP! LOCK HIM UP!

Clearly we should all wait until Trump tweets because his story never matches his surrogates.

The surrogates deny elements of the story that the WaPost never claimed (i.e. methods and operations being shared) and conveniently leave out any mention of whether any confidential information was shared. The next day, Trump says he did share information and and it's his right for "humanitarian reasons" then pivots to the "leakers" completely oblivious that he was the original leaker.

ad hominen aside, it would appear that Trump has confirmed that he did with his recent tweet. He also indicates, he has absolute authority to declassify as he sees fit,

As per the WAPO story and McMaster's statement, he (mcmasters), specifically said no details of methods and processes were discussed, which equates to a non denial as the article does not address methods or processes but actual intelligence itself.

Trump is right, he has the authority to declassify anything he desires. Of course, there is generally a process for that not simply telling Russian emissaries sitting in in the Oval Office.

Process??? strategy??? this must be more of that 3d chess from the election campaign.

He won that election as I recall.

This latest reason for impeachment is just as ridiculous as all of the others. He didn't break any laws, and he is the President. As President, he can work within the law with other countries as he sees fit, and working with Russia to kill members of ISIS was one of his campaign promises.

Watching Democrats and the MSM (as if there is a difference) cry and moan since they lost is not even laughable anymore. It is pitiful.

So you approve with divulging the information or are you just anti anti trumping. And what if that intelligence source can be traced by the information divulged and was information obtained via israeli efforts? Are you gonna rubber stamp everything this guy does?

If he didn't break the law the whole conversation is ridiculous. That is how the system works.

Trump is not going to intentionally try to ruin the country. He has made millions of dollars in in the U.S.A., will continue to make millions when he is out of office, and has children and grandchildren that will grow up here.

I'm sure he will make mistakes. I sincerely doubt he made one in this instance. It would help the credibility of Democrat arguments if you didn't wake up everyday with a new scandal or fictional wrong to try and pin on Trump. If you keep crying wolf, people stop listening and start questioning the intent or sanity of the one sounding the false alarms.

I love how the Libs act like this is unprecedented. Foreign leaders with a common war opponent sharing pertinent information to help both sides. Yeah that's never happened 1,000's of times in history.

Everyone involved said nothing inappropriate was shared in those conversations and it was routine info sharing in regards to the topic being discussed.

Cry my a river, Libs. Add a few hundred more tears to the monsoon you've already cried in outrage the last few months.

I love the way your party believes mainstream America is going to switch sides and start voting for a bunch of witch hunting, constantly outraged, cry babies who can't stomach not getting a participation trophy after soundly losing an election.

I know I wasted my vote for Gary "Toker" Johnson, but every time I start to regret not voting for Trump, he tweets something really stupid. The Trump agenda will be destroyed by this asshat's hubris. Yes, I'm really glad Hitlery lost, but I think 4 years of grid lock is about the best we can hope for.

I can't confirm the authenticity but I believe this is a video of you while typing out that passage. ;)

I think the issue is that this intel came from an ally and they asked us not to share it with others - a common intelligence courtesy. My hunch is that if this were Israel they wouldn't want us to share it with Russia as they'd let Iran know. If it were Jordan, they'd not like to have all of their neighbors know that they're giving us information. The intelligence committee stumbled onto this when they were reading the summaries of the meeting and realized that the POTUS had shared information with a "frenemy" that is allies with our enemies. If this information had been shared with one of the "5 eyes" it wouldn't have been a big deal. Ironically, this overshare is likely much more serious than anything that Clinton had on her server.

A quick review of the timeline:

- Late Monday afternoon the WaPo releases a story claiming POTUS Trump shared "code word" classified information with Russia's Foreign Minister, US Ambassador and Russian cameraman. This information included the location the information was gleaned from and that it was given to us by a foreign agency that did not give us permission to share it with our adversary.
- McMaster, Tillerson and Powell then attempt to knockdown the story as "false". McMaster goes on TV claiming that Trump "did not disclose any military operations that weren't already public" which wasn't claimed in the WaPo article.
- This morning, Trump essentially confirms that he shared information or "facts" and that he has a right to do so. This "false" story just became true.
- McMaster now claims that the information shared was "appropriate".
- Meanwhile, at least one European official is now saying they may not share intel with the US.

" "Meanwhile, at least one European official is now saying they may not share intel with the US." Who? More anonymous sources I guess. You're so desperate to get Trump on something that seems to be a big nothingburger.

I don't seem to recall anyone making a big production out of HRC revealing in a nationally-televised debate how long it takes between the POTUS giving the order and the missiles flying toward Moscow. Perhaps OUBubba or SH could point me to a link of a similarly hyperventilating story on this event?

I don't need to "get Trump on something". He's doing that all by himself and his apologists look more foolish with each excuse.

LOL! Hey, I also heard he gets gets two scoops of ice cream instead of one. I wish you libs were this alert during the corrupt Obama Administration.

So the President can declassify our nuclear arsenal and technically has the right to and not break the law, but that you would be just fine with that?.

Trump is not going to intentionally try to ruin the country. He has made millions of dollars in in the U.S.A., will continue to make millions when he is out of office, and has children and grandchildren that will grow up here.

Well that's a pretty low bar.

I'm sure he will make mistakes. I sincerely doubt he made one in this instance.

I guess that means you agree with him divulging the information.

It would help the credibility of Democrat arguments if you didn't wake up everyday with a new scandal or fictional wrong to try and pin on Trump. If you keep crying wolf, people stop listening and start questioning the intent or sanity of the one sounding the false alarms.

oh the irony.

All that aside, I thought McMasters did as good a job as possible in his presser, but by no means put out the fire, especially since upon his exit he indicated he wasnt sure if the President was aware of the source of the intelligence. It was pretty clear that this discussion and utterances were extemporaneous and not planned. Whether they were appropriate in context of the conversation, doesnt resolve larger issues of a greater context.

Not quite. The issue was revealing methods and sources, which the WP article asserted but not proven since the source was not there. Also, as an American who flies in Russian airlines, I appreciate what Trump did.

I stole this off the twitter. Seemed fitting.

White House reaction cycle
1 - It never happened
2 - POTUS tweet
3 - It happened; NBD
4 - Nobody cares but you
5 - No more questions on this

Joe Simonson on Heat Street has good article about this.

https://heatst.com/politics/anonymous-nation-americas-papers-of-record-have-turned-into-tabloids/

According to The Post‘s “insiders”, Trump disclosed classified information pertaining to potential terrorist attacks conducted by ISIS using laptop computers as bombs on passenger aircrafts.

(Haven’t we read about this laptop threat for months? Isn’t that why several airlines have recently banned the use of laptops on certain routes?)

Sure, Trump bragging about his “great intel” to the Russians might piss off the ally it came from, but it sounds like he was mostly just reiterating the stuff that even the White House shoeshine boy knows.

Oooo, scary stuff! No wonder the MSM got hysterical!

That Heat Street article is dead on point and most of mainstream America has already figured it out. Anynonymous source quoting to foster an agenda is worthless dogsh*t.

Last off-season OB's often referenced 'sources' within the Horns program saying Swoopes was pulling away from Buechele and had all but won the QB competition.

I laughed knowing it was bs and the source could've been a waterboy or even fictitious creations to promote QB controversy clicks. Low and behold, Boo wins the job and Swoopes is only allowed to throw 9 passes in 63 snaps all season.

When there are no repercussions for being wrong and no way to validate the authenticity of 'sources'...there's nothing to stop media outlets who value traffic over honesty and integrity.

What is the MSM doing now? Maliciously attacking DT under the shield of anonymous sources nobody can verify.

They were all heavily invested in a Clinton presidency and continuing Lib policies. Their investors have a huge financial stake in those policies continuing. Plus their ratings skyrocket the more DT scandals they fabricate.

So instead of reporting facts or real news, they scour the landscape for plausible gotchas to jack up the clicks.

This new standard operating procedure is bush league garbage the likes of the National Inquirer back in the days. F*ck the fake news, only their bubble believes it.
