One of my all time favoritesShould I just have asked how many pounds of flour?
I think I took her on a "blind date" once. Blind as in I was blind drunk & had lost all inhibitions. I awoke next morning thinking "What the hell have I done?" The escape plan was the ole Coyote trick. Fortunately (or not) I had my arm 1/2 chewed thru when she awoke, screamed, "Oh my Gawd!! What the hell have I done?" She jumped up clutching the bedding to hide her brawny "feminine" parts & ran 1/2 exposed out the door screaming, "Oh, Sweet Jesus!! Please, not again. Oh Sweet Jesus, promise I'll be good from now on. Oh, Swee.........."Don't forget the Brits!

Update: you'd swear I was on aggy roller-coaster. Things gettin' better, makin' good grades, my future's so bright I gotta wear...FUUUUURRRRK!!!! When I get to the bottom I go back to the top of the slide. Then I stop & I turn & I go for a ride. When I get to the bottom then I'll see you...FUUUUURRRRKKKK.Thanks, guys. Doing much better at this writing. Truth is, 2 nites ago I was in the breech...didn't know which way it would go. Due to some incredible medical teamwork, including RN, RT, pharm & hospitalist I'm still here, obnoxious as ever (thank God nurse aggy wasn't around).
Just the girl you would like to take home to momma!![]()

I wrapped a pillow case around my gnarly chewed left arm, looked in the mirror & said to self, "Self, you lucky sum-*****, you escaped 1 more time. You're just gonna HAVE to cut this s**t out!!!-"
Note to self, "Next time NO MORE THAN ONE 5th OF JACK!!! ONE 5th IS ALL!!!!

Rinse wash repeat. I've been thru recurrent bouts of major hypoxia driven anxiety attacks (O2 sat. rates as low as 65%...OUCH!!! Major anxiety) with recurrent bouts of A-fib (PR bouncing between 45 - 155). Influenza A mucous refusing to exit lungs causing new Dx pneumonia. All to the tune of new Dx: CHF.
I just have to ask the Q, "Kids, are we having fun, yet?"
Spot of good news, my beloved daughter arrived noon yesterday from Brooklyn. Always a joy to see her, but preferably under different circumstances.
Current plan (revision # 4 from original plan): 2-3 more days hospital treatment followed by 1-2 weeks rehab before exiting for.
I am sincerely grateful for prayers to date & humbly request your continued intercession on behalf of my care- team. I have a quality team of MD's', RNs, RTs & ancillary staff. They are diligent, hard working humble human/medical service professionals who don't receive the credit they deserve. These people are walking into a petrie dish of influenza on a daily basis. You can tell they are tired, but they are here, Sun - Sat, 12:00 a.m. - 11:59:59 p.m....bags under their eyes. Maybe they've been home for a sandwich, shower, change of cloths, possibly a short nap, maybe not. I am in awe of the dedication of these people.
My request: pls take a short moment & send a positive affirmation to them from whatever faith belief you may have. They are deserving.
1sa just smiled.1sa. I hope knowing you have so many praying and sending good thoughts makes you smile. Please post updates when you can as well as your on point posts on all things Horns
Thoughts and prayers for you SA. Whenever I think about the tough life I've had it's good to be humbled by those who have had it much worse. Keep the faith!1sa just smiled.

True everything you said with the FIFY caveat. So. Plains/Panhandle Mexican Food remains Mexicanish, although better than 30 yrs ago.Mexican ish food has become a staple of American cuisine almost everywhere. That was not the case 30 years ago in places like Lubbock or even DFW.
I've never actually heard about this level of culinary abomination.I am talking mayonaise in the guac bad.
Ewwww.I am talking mayonaise in the guac bad.
mayonaise in the guac
I lived in the Hub City 18 yrs (off & on). I encountered some terrible excuses for Mexican food (including the worst case of food poisoning I ever had; contracted @ the Koko Korner. formerly tops in Lubbock). I never encountered the abomination of mayo in guac.I went to tech for 2 long years before I transferred into UT.
When I lived there (94 and 95) there was not many Mexican options and the options were not great at all.
I am talking mayonaise in the guac bad.
Having moved there from El Paso I was pretty spoiled, however
I am sure things have changed in 30 years quite a bit. It's remarkable how Mexican food has become a staple of American cuisine almost everywhere. That was not the case 30 years ago in places like Lubbock or even DFW.
Once on a business trip to Akron, OH, my hosts insisted on taking me to a "Mexican" restaurant. I was, needless to say apprehensive, but decorum prevented me from protesting. The enchiladas had marinara sauce on them. That incident can be chalked up to northern ignorance, but there are no excuses for aggy.My older brother is an aggy (I know) and when we went to College Station to drop him off, in 89 or 90, we were recommended to go to their one Mexican restaurant in town Which was really popular among the agroids at that time. IIRC it was called Mamacitas or something like that. The agroids spoke of it like it was an exotic phenomenon.
I asked for Enchiladas and they asked me if I wanted gravy.
I thought, surely they are just using the word gravy very loosely.
But no, they served enchiladas smothered in something like actual white gravy with some chili powder mixed in.
This gravy incident was just another WTF moment in what was the strangest 3 or 4 days I had had in my young 14 year old life up to that point.
(I remember being actually worried for my brother when we dropped him off at FISH Camp. It just did not feel right leaving him alone in that sea of weirdos))
Even B/CS has come a long way since then. But yes 1sa, your correction is right. Mexican-ish is as good as it gets in places like BCS or the panhandle.

Per On3's Hayes Fawcett, four-star tight end Xavier Tiller has decommitted from Texas A&M after originally committing to the Aggies on Nov. 4.
sorry It seemed so relevant to this poor aggy board
Final Report (I hope): This medical ordeal began early-mid January. 1 Nurse aggy, 1 Nurse Rachett, a few people who were there for a paycheck but would have better served mankind by growing protozoa in a Petri dish; but also an incalculable number of incredibly caring, competent professional & ancillary staff including MD's RN's, CNA's, OT's, PT's, RT's, Lab Techs etc.; plus a lot of prayers from caring friends (including my family/friends from Hornsfans) saw me thru a hospitalization for A-fib followed by rehospitalization for influenza A and finally a stay at a SNF that ended today. I am back home & in my own bed. From the bottom of my heart, thank you all for the support & prayers.Man, you take care of yourself and do what your health professionals tell you to do.
Unless its Nurse Aggie, of course.![]()
