Transfer Portal 2024

For those who've kept count, how many scholarships do we have open now? I assume we are still only seeking 4s and 5s at this point, as I think we are pretty solid at guard.

Right now: 2 more scholarships available.

Out of eligibility: Shaylee
Transfer out: Khadija, DeYona, Tionna, Amina, Gisella
HS signees: Justice, Jordan, Bryanna
Transfer in: Laila

I am really bummed about Gisella. I had really high hopes for her after her stellar high school career at Cedar Park.

With her knee injury setting her back, Phaelia coming in, the new PG coming in next year, the possibility that Aaliyah Chavez may come in the year after that? Playing time was about to become even more an uncertainty. Where ever she goes, I wish all the best.

Hi, can someone here confirm how many years of eligibility that Rori has left?

Was she able to get a medical redshirt this year? I am pretty sure she does not have a Covid year because she came in 2021.

The reason I am asking is if Rori just plays one more year, then this clears the path for Aaliyah Chavez to take over at PG right away as a Freshman. It would be a much easy sell for Vic to get her commitment.

I'm assuming Sarah Graves' scholarship awarded last Fall is only for one year; that's typically the case when a coaching staff realizes they won't be using the 'ship after all for that season.

So, that leaves 3 'ships currently available with the following 12 players on 'ship for the upcoming season:

Harmon
Preston

Phelia
Lee
Codio

Booker
Holle
Ndjakalenga

Moore
Carlton

Jones
Boutilier

The portal and NIL has certainly had an effect on college sports. I don’t know if it is for the better or the worse. Vic apparently was/is an excellent recruiter and players came to be developed into stars. Not sure what the motivation is for players these days. I particularly don’t understand those that end up in the portal 3-4 times.

Not many tweets come from Vic's twitter account, but the timing of this one is unusual after this week's outgoing transfer announcements . . .

Now what do you think of that? She is so flakey!

What a difference a year makes. It was just a year ago since the Sonya Morris altercation and she was on top of the world. How the mighty have fallen!

Good luck against ISU.

Let’s talk Boutilier. She’s suddenly a focus for next season. I refuse to go back and read all the things I’ve annd others have written about her. So I’m winging it. Boutilier played at Flower Mound HS. About 15 minutes from where my child bride lets me reside. When she and her parents so early talked Texas and then committed early, I tried to convince myself to go watch her play. But she played VERY intermittently. Seems something was always hurt. When she did play, she didn’t show up in the box scores or did so minimally. So I never went to give her the eyeball test. Seems like her best attribute was blocking shots or at least altering em. If forced to testify (guess), my offering is she might have averaged 3 points per game that she played in. So played a little more in junior year and a little less in senior year. I have zero idea what her injuries have been in her freshman year but appear to be leg related. So she has played sparingly in last 3 years. If she could play 5-10 minutes a game next year and have some meaningful impact on game, I’d take that. Jones is an extremely reliable player compared to Boutilier if you wondered. If you were coach, would you put your job/money on that combo. Not me. Not Schaefer either. Schaefer simply has to have a reliable option behind Jones. If Boutilier surprises everyone and can give a few minutes a game, then success. I had Boutilier as the number one portal possibility. I’m shocked she’s hanging in there. I’m pulling for her as she apparently has ALWAYS loved the Horns. I’m expecting a five to transfer in to relieve my anxiety. I didn’t see five transfers out. So I am easily fooled. I’m hoping like the dickens Boutilier is healthy and productive and everyone can point to my foolishness. Hook ‘Em.

Quite the contrary. She is going to be able to play her game. No national pressure. Has a good up and coming coach to play for. All wins.

I mean, that's as good as any other speculation. Playing for her third head coach and third different offense in 3 consecutive seasons is another risk. Most folks don't even know what position she will play at TCU.

Like I mentioned before. I think Boutilier is still a project. I assume she redshirted this year since she did not play at all.

I think Vic needs to get at least two experienced forwards in the portal to supplant the portal losses and still make them SEC ready. There has been much chatter about these candidates:

Janiah Barker - A&M
Timea Gardiner - Oregon State
Cameron Williams - Michigan
Maryam Dauda - Arkansas

Buckle up because it may get crazy over the next 5 days. Players have until May 1st to enter the portal.

I can't believe nobody has figured out which "big" was scheduled to visit this weekend. I only hope it's not outdated info and that visit was scheduled by a transfer who has since committed to another school (like Aaronette Vonleh who chose Baylor a few days ago)

7. Laila Phelia, 6-0, G, Jr., Michigan Wolverines

Committed to Texas Longhorns
Phelia's decision to transfer is devastating for the Wolverines, who have lost six players to the transfer portal, but a huge boost for Texas. The first-team All-Big Ten selection, who led Michigan with 16.8 points per game, will be one of the country's best third options in an offense that will also feature the returning Rori Harmon and Madison Booker. Phelia can shoot the 3-pointer (41.7% as a sophomore) and post up smaller guards, providing some extra versatility to the Longhorns' offense.

I’m with Moooo. Certainly “somebody” somewhere has a hint as to IF a big is visiting this weekend. The suspense is killing me.

There is a big on campus. On Blair’s story the team is all at Vic’s house playing games which is the go to when a big time recruit is on campus. It means Vic is pulling out all the stops. Blair blocked said player with a laughing emoji.

I tried my hardest to find out who it was lol I looked in mirrors, reflections and all but couldn’t come up with who it is. She’s definitely tall and at least 6’4.

Well how bout them apples. I can go to sleep easily knowing “someone” is on campus. Thanks for the tranquilizer.

Ok so after watching Blair story like 30 times I think it’s Timea Gardiner. Her hair was down but seemed curly and the ankles in the tights was those of a tan white person or a mixed race person. Maybe Donavyn Hunter or Timea heck both.

I saw the same thing as far as all our players (non-exiting) and coaches at Vic's home playing charades and socializing; some orange and white balloons present in the background.

Players I noticed were Abbie, Taylor, Aaliyah, Ndjakalenga, Jordana, Madi, and Rori. So not visible to me was Shay.

While I agree that most likely seems like a recruiting evening we've seen in the past, no idea if recruit is big/tall (although that's who the Statesman guys tweeted earlier in the week would be visiting this weekend)

So where is this photo (Blair) that speculates? Please link or tell me where. I’m an expert on ankle identification as well as hair texture. Need to know who’s dat right now.
