Top Chef Restaurant wars

I love how y'all are so convinced so-and-so should have won/lost/died, and yet . . .

. . . none of you have tasted a bite of their food in this competition. At least "American Idol" lets viewers hear the contestants sing.

Not to dismiss "Top Chef", it's an interesting show, but there is a HUGE disconnect between judges and viewers that doesn't really exist on other reality/competition shows.

jimmyjazz, that is the nature of a cooking competition though. The judging isn't empirical, and much more nuanced, but I don't think it takes away from the show... particularly when you are talking about a competition between people you know are very talented.

In any event, unlike most reality shows, TC offers much more incite into the judges decisions online where most of the people who contribute to the show also write articles about the events that transpired... so you have a chance to understand where the disconnect is. Here is Chef Tom's response to the finale:The Link

Very few of the "twists" on the show don't have a real world restaurant equivalent. In a real restaurant you are going to have to deal with no shows. And as much a it frustrated the chefs that their sous chefs didn't show, they can't really have expected Eric Ripert to help construct their meals... prep, sure, but to prepare would have been an unfair advantage.

Eddy v's had the tomahawk steaks from the Allen Brothers last night. Really flavorful, though they cooked it med well vs med rare.
