Top 5 SNL cast members of all time

Chevy Chase invented it and thus, I will have to go with Norm McDonald.

Billy Crystal... because I liked his characters:

Sammy Davis Jr.
Fernando "Zhou look Marvelous!"
Sadomasachist guy...

And I used to look and sound like him (not on purpose), so there is an affinity there. But I would take it back and say...

MARTIN SHORT as my 5th. He had MORE characters.
-Ed Grimly
-The Lying Guy
-"I'm not a strong swimmer" film short
-others..

Eddie Murphy!

Seriously. If you don't think Belushi was the greatest, then you're just wrong. You either haven't watched the show from its inception or you're an idiot.

It's really quite simple.

unpaintedhuffhines, you say:
but this is an all-time list and his 1-yr performance shouldn't get him in the top 10.

I said (quoted in your post in fact):
I wouldn't put him in my top 10

We're good, right?

As to the AP reference, I meant that Crystal's character was the annoying catchphrase of the year. If I have to use only an SNL reference, then I gues "You look maaaahhhhrelous" was the "schwing" of the early 80s.

Can someone explain how Will Ferrel is on so many lists? From his very first skit all he has ever done is yell a lot and annoy the **** out of me...the same character over and over. It seems like finally America is starting to agree with me as his last couple of movies haven't done too well.

Eddie Murphy should be on every list.

I always personally loved Norm MacDonald, but I would not expect him to make many other people's top 5 lists.

I think Dana Carvey belongs on the list too. Wayne's World, Church Lady, George Bush, Ross Perot. The list goes on...

Ferrell was awesome. That skit where he's teh violent office manager (not on my watch) is hilarious. Cow bell...Goulet.
