Top 5 Rock bands of all time

Into page four and no Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. I am ashamed for you people.

I can't believe we're this far into the discussion and we haven't seen my buddy MaxHorn on here.

U2 and Beatles top my list. My question is, is Fleetwood Mac really rock? Do not laugh. I freaking love Fleetwood Mac and they are on my Top 5 list.

Alum03, I have to say I was converted into a Bruce fan this year. I was never into him at all but a friend of mine took me to the Bruce show here in Houston this year. Said guy is from Jersey and a diehard Bruce fan; I said I'd reciprocate when U2 tours again. Anyhoo, I went in knowing a very limited amount of material and can say that Bruce and the E Street Band to this day puts on one HELL of a show.

Though I may not "identify" with all the Jersey references as a UT gal from Corpus, that was a GREAT concert, and I can see how people just connect with Bruce's music. He doesn't play many of his "hits," but sticks with his other material. I respected that a lot.

Side note: The greatest concert I ever saw was on April 7, 1992 at the Erwin Center -- U2 ZOO TV tour. This should be a different thread.

Alum03:

No, actually I have two ******* degrees and most of the people I hang out with here in Texas that love Springsteen have just as many. I don't think we're uneducated. If you don't like him or his music, so be it. You don't have to classify anyone who likes him as an uneducated blue collar worker from a single state in the country.

Any list that includes The Eagles loses credibility with me. They sold a lot of records, sure, but their music is pedestrian at best.

Just for kicks, Alum03, I checked your list out. It is a very good list, but Reznor isn't exactly the president of the Optimist Club. Why would anyone want to listen to this depressing crap unless they are a (privileged/suburban/overmedicated) white kid who wears black clothing and has a propensity to slash himself?

Top ten NIN songs/albums to die to:
1) Hurt
2) The Great Below
3) And All That Could Have Been
4) Something I Can Never Have
5) Leaving Hope
6) Right Where It Belongs
7) The Downward Spiral
8) A Warm Place
for those who are vinyl fans (and won't do mix tapes)
9) The Downward Spiral album
10) The Fragile album

Pink Floyd also has many "depressing songs," or should I say upbeat songs with depressing lyrics.
Wish You Were Here, Shine On You Crazy Diamond, Goodbye Cruel World, the album "The Wall", etc.

I only have two degrees, but both are from Texas, so I've got that going for me, which is nice.

I like some Bruce Springstein music, and dislike other Bruce Springstein music. He's nobody's Journey, but he doesn't totally suck.

I don't like Nirvana. Never did, and never will. But I'm also not so ignorant as so say "they sucked."

On that note, I'm going to add the Pixies into this conversation. Not that they belong on an all-encompassing Top 5 list like this one, but Surfer Rosa was incredible, and they influenced quite a few bands.

Your post was pretty flaming, I can see why the Boss-lover took offense.

It's difficult to detect a comment's intended tone from a message board. That's why they created these things:

I know some people feel stupid for using the emoticons, but they serve a purpose. If you intend something as a joke, you might consider adding the

or the same thing could happen again.

1.Beatles-not my personal fav. but for their influence in rock music.
2.The Who
3.Zep
4.Fleetwood Mac
5.Cream
and U2 is the best over the last 20 years.
Odd that there is not an american band in the bunch...with the exception of Fleetwood Mac, which have two of the five band members being american.
Also, I would definitely say that Fleetwood Mac is rock, esp. live.
