Time to talk Oklahoma State

You might even recall that 2015 loss, which may have been the worst officiated game in the history of all sports

Intentional bad calls with the only question being that of motive. Corruption or simply no stones in the league office? This one hurt poor old Charlie.

When the ref leans into him and then throws a flag. Charlie should have just punched him in the throat and walked off the field. The fix was in regardless.

Probably against the Core Values and would have to subject himself to The Pit.

The worst was when they screwed us over on that fourth down play when the entire OL jumped and the up backs lunged forward; and they flagged us for off-sides, and gave OSU a first down allowing them to go on and score a TD which won them the game.

Not only does Okie St own a 4-game win streak against us overall but they have a 5-game win streak at DKR?
Which also means (I think), as an opposing coach, Gundy owns the longest win streak of any opponent in Austin in the history of Texas football.

On the other hand, we once had a 12-game win streak against them. And, they only have 9 wins against us all-time.

And the last time we beat them, Gundy's hair looked like this

Haven't checked....does The Mullet have as many or more wins in Austin than Strong?

I really believe our team is only going to be as good as our CBs allow us to be. I’m really worried about that position.

Yes, that position is THE glaring issue, followed by RB. But that situation is much better as of last week due to Danny Young coming back. Hopefully TO can scheme to help the corners. A bit of a catch 22, we have to blitz and rely on CB’s against good passing teams. I think we match up better with OSU than OU at this point.

It will be a long day for the defense if Orlando insists on using a 3-3-5 scheme or some such variation with three lineman and bringing blitzes from six yards off the line of scrimmage with the db yelling i'm coming on a blitz. The osu running back will gash us for large chunks of yardage and /or the qb will just through to the receiver in the open space the blitzing db vacated. That doesn't even consider Orlando's tendency to not account for a running qb. He needs to bring four to cut down the running lanes and keep containment with mixed blitzes from the linebackers. I don't know if he runs some type of cover 2, but the defense will probably need to bend but don't break and force fg's. Horn offense will need to score td's damn near every possession.

We ALL should have grave concerns about that position for any team we play with a good passing O. It would greatly help out that mostly green secondary to have at least 4 DL rushing every passing play. D has got to get some pressure on QB or they WILL find someone open.

Gundy: 5
Strong: 10

No, but the fact that it's something you need to check, just to be sure, says a lot.
Take it easy, I was joking.

Edit: I initially read this as you thought I was taking an unnecessary shot at Strong. Perhaps you were actually agreeing with my joke, in a way. Either way...:beertoast:

Here are my worries as of right now.

1. Pass Rush
2. Running Backs health
3. Play of our Corners.

Our corners getting burnt is a symptom of something much more serious, and that is we can't rush the passer. Our defense is designed to always be bringing someone, no one can rush the passer with just 3 guys, except for maybe Bama and Clemson. But we are getting very little push out of our front 3, this is very disconcerting.

Love Taquon Graham, but he might be playing out of position. He has grown into an inside guy and lost his quickness and ability to get passed a offensive tackle. I honestly believe that our best formation for the talent we have is a 4 man front with moving Shark to DE with Roach and using all those Big inside guys we have on a rotation basis.

Could Oklahoma State be this year's Maryland? We shouldn't get caught unawares.

No, I think Tom Herman holds his coaches accountable and is willing to adjust and change. We come out in a 4 man front and play to stop the run. Then we blitz more as the game wears on and OSU gets tired. We have a talented front 4, we just were not using them the best way early in the season.

Much can be done with the talent onboard. Some possibilities include using Bimage or Shark (or someone else) as a 4th DL in a rush end capacity, an 85 Bears type of look with our 3 big guys over the C and 2 Gs, and rush LBs/DEs on the edges, more of our Cowboy/gimmick defense, etc.

One bright spot I noticed was Coburn collapsing the pocket and splitting double teams. But it was just Rice.

Coach again talking playing aggy

He makes some good points, esp pointing out weak SEC OOC schedules, but I still dont want it. That is their problem. I still say to heck with aggy, they left us and our conference, we didnt leave them. Why let them do that then benefit from it? Instead, just let them suffer in the misery they created for themselves. The Baylor women's BBall coach once compared this idea to a husband who divorced you who then thinks he gets to slide back in occasionally for some free whoopie. "Errr, no you dont!"

Herman also says," We don't change the way we do things around here."
