Time for Arkansas

I just hope our emotion matches theirs, cause you know they will be high on that corn liquor and ready to play. If we don't come out and kick them in the mouth, it could be a close game. I don't want a close game!

Stat, most of the SEC, or country, would have scored 27 ppg against our previous two opponents.

But what you may, or may not, be overlooking is that most of the country didn't implement a brand new offense. Most of the country also has a defense and special teams that isn't on a jr. high level.

If your point is that the Arkansas offense isn't moving mountains in a very short amount of time, you are wrong. Dick, the SEC's laughingstock for three years, now leads the SEC. While it means nothing as far as this game or this thread is concerned, do not be surprised if Arkansas continues to lead the SEC in offense and Top 5 or 10 in the nation by seasons end.

If your point is that the offense isn't the greatest in the world and will not be able to compensate for the bad D, you are correct.

But I believe many here will be very surprised by "lowly lil ole' Arkansas" scoring numerous times Saturday. But as I have said about 5 times now, Texas should almost double our score.

Arky scored 7 in the first half against Western Illinois. They scored 6 in the first half against UL Monroe. Texas has allowed zero points in the second half this year.

I admire the optimism, but again, 20-30 points against Texas is not likely.

Not to derail the thread but I dont understand why we are even playing Arky anyway. When they were in the SWC they were tough because they recruited Texas well. Once they went to the SEC and no longer had the exposure of playing 2 -3 games a year in Texas they sunk to the mediocrity they so richly deserve. I dont know why we are giving them exposure to Texas recruits.

Nvertheless, Go Horns! Beat the Hogs!

Not to steal Bill in Sinton's shtick, as I am sure he can do a way better job of this than I can.

On paper, we should mudhole Arkie. Their cupboard is about as bare as it gets. However, we said this about aggy for the last two years in a row, and look at what happened. We shared a heated SWC rivalry with the Pigs up until 1991, and they still hate everything Texas with a passion up in that godforsaken state. They would love nothing better than to walk out of DKR with a major upset. To repeat the old, worn out cliche, we are their Super Bowl this year.

However, if we maintain focusness, we can overcome the Pigs and be victorious on Saturday. We must not overlook them and have a minor letdown like we did during portions of the UTEP game.

As an aside: is it a sign of the apocalypse that Arkie State may actually have the best team in the State of Arkansas this year?

Stat, you said..."You're moving mountains argument doesn't make sense unless you are trying to point out that it's impressive that they have made an average offense out of what should have been a very subpar offense, in which case I'd agree. ".....

Yes, the above is more so what I'm saying. After spending 10 years grinding it out on the ground, and everyone on this offensive unit having to learn the basics of pass blocking and the forward pass, it is absolutely astonishing that Casey Dick and the corp of Freshman WR's now lead the SEC in offense.

If we had a defense worth two farts, the discussion of this weeks game would be 180 degrees different. Of course, if my aunt had a sack she would be my uncle. Regardless, when you consider implementing a whole new system, what the offense
has accomplished is stellar.

All I'm saying is, and it probably wont matter considering a moral victory is meaningless, do not be surprised if Texas and Arkansas get into a shootout.....with Texas becoming too much for the D in the 3rd and 4th.

Dear Texas,

There is no doubt you are more talented and experienced than our team this year. In fact, in almost every matchup ever between our two teams, you were at least more talented. Recently, we've had a little success, but still, your team is always the favorite. The only question is the point spread.

2004 = More talented. I was there. If only Derek Johnson would have failed a class or two at JUCO.

2003 = It was our day. Tough running and a few lucky plays.

1999 = Again, our day.

However, Saturday will most likely be your day, and, sadly, the last time our two programs square off in the foreseeable future. Our new series with eATMe will take your place, we promise to treat them to an L 7 out of the 10 years.

This game will be more a barometer of where our team is. It will tell you little, if anything, about yours, provided you win like you should.

Hope the Hurricane stays away and that all of us, cardinal and burnt orange, stay safe this weekend...

I think this game is going to be a lot tighter than most Horn fans anticipate. The pigs can move the ball and it's not like we are the 2000 Ravens vs. the pass.

I think we win but it'll be 45-30 or something close to that.

This is always the Arky jihad and I still don't think Mack gets it.

Regarding the Arky jihad, you're right, and here's a story:

I now live just South of Nashville, TN. Going home yesterday, I got behind a white F-150 that had longhorn stickers on both sides of the rear window. Seeing this, and knowing it was TEXAS (spit) week, I immediately put the two fingers down as we rode through the neighbor hood. When he saw me, he waved, and I did, too.

Yes, this is the Arky jihaad, and I know it doesn't mean as much to TEXAS (spit) fans, but it still does to us. Luckily for you, we don't have Houston Slobbering Nutt around to fire the guys up about playing TEXAS. Luckily for us, we don't have Houston Nail-Chewing Nutt around to call the plays...

What I saw in 2004 wasn't a Hurricane.

What I saw in 2003 seemed like a sunny day.

In 1999, I enjoyed the picnic weather you provided.

Even when we're bad, which we are, you aren't going to blow us out of the water...

If by holocaust, you're referring to the injustice of the result, then upon that basis only, I agree with you.

One of the greatest games in the history of college football, even the losing side can admit that...

whocares.. 20% chance of rain and weather won't be factor???

Seen the latest storm track that has Ike hitting the Texas coast at 2:00 p.m on Saturday?

Injustice is a contingent upon one's point of view. Ask any self-respecting Razorback fan who remembers that game, and you'll hear a lot about injustice...

But, fortunately, 1969 won't have anything to do with this game.

I don't take Arky lightly at all and I honestly don't know why Mack Brown seems so excited about scheduling them.

We have little to gain and much to lose when we play them. They aren't going to make much impact as a 'quality' win our schedule but they will play us like they're a damn top 10 team.. and win or lose we don't need Arkansas for recruiting like they need Texas.

Arkansas plays completely over their heads and rolls out the 3 different game plans they practiced all summer just to play us
. We bend, but don't break.

Texas 31
Arkansas 24
