the sin of homosexuality

Dion, you are right. Sin is sin. We speak of it no other way in our church. We also don't focus on homosexuality as any different from any other sin.

I would give the same counsel to someone who was looking at pornography as I would to someone who had homosexual relationships.

I just wanted to point out that there are many Biblical Scholars who disagree with the assertion that the Bible says homosexuality is a sin.

It's very simple to me.

The government should not be in the marriage business. Have civil unions recognized between consenting adults so that no one is being denied the benefit of laws.

As for churches, they should make the call whether they want to sanction gay marriages. If they do, I will not be attending because I believe it violates very clear biblical doctrine. For the same reason I would not attend a church that preached stealing, lying, and adultery were permissible.

I would also not attend a church that shunned or prohibited attendance by someone who had participated in homosexual sex. Just like I would not attend a church that shunned or prohibited attendance by thieves, liars, or adulterers.

I have attended church since I was born 36 years ago. Church of Christ and Baptist. I cannot recall ever hearing a sermon on homosexuality. Most churches aren't spending their time or money on the issue.

The simple answer to all of this is to just do away with the supposed benefits to everyone, then everyone is equal no matter who they choose to be with. Marriage has become a silly act at this point anyway with the current rate of divorce.

i think he misses the primary point that Christians aren't saying porn, lust and masturbation are ok BUt homosexuality is wrong. We are saying it is all wrong and recognize that we are almost all guilty of one or more of them. But the logic leap to his implied "therefore" is absurd. It doesn't make any sense.
