The level of restrictions on language used in polite society has fluctuated over the centuries and millenia. The reason cuss words are called vulgar is because the masses (vulgus) were well known to employ them.

Summer, 1972. Big Bend National Park. Chisos Basin restrooms. My 6 year old little brother is taking a morning poo while dad is shaving. I am brushing my teeth. There are a few other men shaving, etc. My brother yells out in a loud voice from his stall...
"Daddy?"
"What is it....I'm shaving."
"What does F...U...C...K mean? It's written on the door."
All the men start laughing and my dad cuts himself badly with his safety razor from laughing. I remember him trying to explain to mom why he came back from the restroom bleeding from a gash on his neck.

Well said, sawbonz. Kids do have relevant inklings of sex and god.

They don't have inklings of the fully naturalistic account of reality, as an antidote to the god idea, would probably be more accurate.

Still, parents would like to be responsible for their kids early childhood learning, and have legitimate beefs with some of the more egregious intrusions into that. But, they have to live with quite a bit. And patience and humility in the face of it all is a good overarching idea.
