The First 100 days

Will anyone remember the speech in 7 days? Both speeches (Trump and Abrams) were pretty forgettable.

Can someone explain the emphasis on the Greatest Generation? I appreciate them. The most influential man in my life was one of them. How they tied into Trump's speech is a mystery. Celebrate them for the sake of celebrating them? Trump's policies and style have no tie to them. Reagan built a long standing them of appreciation. Trump seemed to want to use them as props.

I watched the State of the Union, and I'm not going to to critique it in detail like I did last year. However, I think Trump did a good job. I didn't like everything he said, but he was at his best. He needs to tweet less and speak seriously more. Furthermore, it gives him opportunities to make the Democrats look bad by showing them refusing to applaud things like opposing socialism, infanticide, etc. (but of course, wildly applauding themselves and their vaginas - sorry if that's transphobic). They really know how to make themselves look petty and small.

One other thing, I noticed that at many times Pelosi spent much of the speech thumbing through paper for no apparent reason. What if Paul Ryan or John Boehner had done that during an Obama SOTU? They would have been demonized to no end for being so dismissive and disrespectful.

I can see a definite tie if you look at who the Greatest Generation elected and liked. They were generally supportive of big things - big government (especially military and infrastructure), big business, and big labor. However, they didn't like ideological socialism/communism, and they were socially conservative. That's pretty consistent with Trump's agenda.

They wouldn't have liked Trump's obnoxiousness and sleazy lifestyle, but they would have liked his unapologetic patriotism or professed patriotism. I think you'd also have to contrast Trump with modern Democrats. They would view them much more like they viewed Abbie Hoffman than how they viewed JFK, which makes sense. Their politics and general worldview are closer to Hoffman's than to Kennedy's.

Disagree. I think JFK would be right at home with the Dems' approach to the issues.

I think you are forgetting that he advocated, very strongly, cutting taxes. He was also anti-abortion owing to his Catholic faith. I know, but Catholics in those days took that sort of thing seriously.

He pushed for tax cuts and appointed one of the dissenters in Roe v. Wade to the Supreme Court. Any Democrat today who did either would be considered a traitor of the highest order.

I try to stick to the facts as I know them. Muslims are part of the triumvirate known as the Abrahamic religions: Judaism, Islam and Christianity. To my personal knowledge (the people I know), Muslims consider homosexuality to be a sin as well as abortion. They are as "right-wing" in their religious beliefs as the Left considers fundamentalist Christians. Again, these are just facts as I see them. For the Left to use them as a pawn to make Trump look bad on the immigration issue was a sign of emotional impairment. Because we all know the Liberal vision of America is the exact opposite of the Old Testament. Again, just a fact as I see it. I'm not taking sides on Trump's executive orders concerning immigration here; just wanting to point out the problems at hand when you prioritize one thing (the hatred of Trump) over all else.

All that being said, look at Nancy Pelosi showing signs of rational behavior:

Speaker Pelosi admonishes freshman Omar over Israel tweet

Pelosi also has a tight hand over any impeachment stuff. The committees need to find hard evidence of malfeasance for impeachment to be considered. Thus, it will likely never happen, but it will keep the TDS morons busy with subpoenas.

OK I had a brain fart there. For some reason I saw JFK and thought FDR. No idea how that happened... Anyway, my mistake.

"Killing baby Hitler" is a thought experiment that has been kicked around over the decades.
But maybe the better question should be "Kill baby Khomeini." The Middle East would have been a lot different the last 40 years without him.

Time for Ted to take Chapo's money and build a wall with it.

Can Trump then say that Mexico paid for it? The money came from US drug users but still.
