The Chickens Have Come Home to Roost

The NRA, its adherents along with a host of gun worshipers have band together to create the most violent gun culture outside of Mexico (and we had a hand in creating that one). With a panoply of liberal gun laws aided by laxed enforcement of same, guns are now available to almost anyone physically able to hold one, and that has the people responsible for creating this gun in every pot nightmare nervous and pee their pants scared. So what do they do remedy the situation? They make it worse by creating still more laws that make it possible to kill with impunity the very people they helped arm and now fear.

Since we have no strongly organized opposition that is willing to stand up to the Wild, Wild West lovers, it's subject to get a whole lot worse before it gets better, if in fact it ever does.

People use anecdotal information to describe "ever increasing" gun violence based upon how many killings they see on TV. Since local TV news and local newspapers like to cover murders of innocent children and suburbanites, there is fear in those communities disproportionate to the dangers. (As a statistician once told me: People worry the right amout, they just don't worry about the right things.) Parents fear the stranger who kidnaps or the guy who poisons halloween candy, but honestly kids are about 100 times more likely to die from drowning or choking to death on a weiner (seriously, don't give little kids foods shaped like the inside of their esophagus that can fit perfectly in a windpipe -- cut them into squares). That said, in certain segments of our community death by homicide using firearms are a serious statistical cause of death.

While America is violent, the following link shows it much less violent than say Columbia or Guatamala, which traffic our illegal drugs. The Link

The trend in United States gun violence is in welcome decline, with 4.8 homicides per 100,000 in 2009, less than half the rate 1979-1981.The Link

please don't bring statistical fact into this thread - it's more fun to speculate and sensationalize.. fantasy land is fun

Why do I get the feeling that Satch would of sympathized with the Japanese in world war 2!

Satch we have this thing called the Second Amendment, that GUARANTEES my right to own and carry a gun. It doesn't say that I can't own a .50Cal handgun, or an old MG42, or a 6 round 12 gauge shotgun or a pellet gun. If you don't like the fact that us law abiding citizens have the right to own & carry then MOVE to a country where it's citizens don't have that right.

You're pissed off about what you feel is an "injustice" in a case where none of us know all the facts.

I thank god that TEXAS has the sense to have the castle law, because if someone breaks into my house they will get SHOT. If you're going to break the law by stealing peoples property, or hurting them physically you run the risk of getting SHOT.

If it wasn't for that Damn Constitution getting in the way, we could get rid of guns, (and have Obamacare affirmed, and keep people from talking bad about our President and our attorney general,......)

Welcome home chickens! Where ya been?

I'd advise everybody to stock up on guns and ammo before November. There simply is no telling what BO will do once he is "unfettered" (his word, not mine) by having to worry about reelection. It's a scary prospect.

All of you scared, bloodthirsty gun lovers will rue the day that you gave your uncritical support to a violent, deadly gun culture. Now your children have the unenviable task of trying to make it through college without being shot by some whacked out classmate who is angry about something (reference the latest gun massacre in California) Oh, and it won't be long until this "right" is extended to everybody:

. Earlier on Monday, senators voted to allow themselves to carry concealed handguns into places the rest of the public cannot, such as churches, restaurants and sporting events.

I love how that gun just ran down the street on it's own and walked into that building and just started shooting. Reminds me a little of Judgement Day or Terminator.

I bet the gun industry loves it when the POTUS comes out and questions the Constitutional authority of the Supreme Court. They probably had one hell of a sales week.

Of course the gun lobby uses all it can to scare people like you to buy more guns so that more innocent people can die.
It's a self fulfilling prophecy.

Scary people praised God for Joe Horn being spared indictment for shooting two men in the back as he feared for his life, This is the quality of life the violent gun culture has wrought.
